IN: A breadmaker!! Life is looking up for poorbutrich!
OUT:
bits and bobs to charity shop and on freecycle!
quite a few bulky items at a car boot sale
ebay items - didn't make too much money, but not really bothered!
Hopefully have another car boot sale booked for next weekend, so am very pleased that I can finally see some progress (and some floor!)
hope everyone else is doing well!

Right, I have a whole house to declutter (well most of it anyway) by two weeks today. I am a terrible terrible hoarder and need help and advice
I started last night and have got this far
Binned - 3 pairs of boots and old laundry hamper - falling apart
Rubbishy bits and pieces and some empty bottles i finished in bathroom
Freecycle - I have a pile of brand new flip flops, hoody, Box of tiles going tomorrow, 2 brand new skirts .
Thing is i have an old pair of caterpillar boots ive had since i was 14 (16 years ). I would wear them rarely but struggle to throw them out . Someone rationalise with me!
Also, have lost 2.5 stone in past year so have a LOT of clothes too big for me. Also have stuff too small but genuinely close to getting into , so am allowing myself a "will fit soon " pile.
I just need help and advice with getting rid of stuff. Clothes seems to be the worst. My clothes style has chnaged SO much over the past ten years but im sure theres still things there i have that long. I also seem to have a healthy obsession with jeans.......
I keep meaning to ebay stuff but really dont know where to start . Did someone mention a b oard?
I have friends coming to visit two odd weeks today - well on the 20th march. I have two days off before they come but would like most of the stuff done and cleared so im well rested and cooked up before they get here!
My rationale side constantly battles with my sentimental side. Especially if i know my mum has bought me stuff as i know its never been easily affordedA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Do they fit? Well?
Are they in good condition?
Are they waterproof? Sturdy?
Being someone who walks, bikes or tromps through mud almot everywhere, I find it hard to get rid of practical things like bootsIf the answers to the above are 'yes', and you might use them (walks out, gardening, etc) then put them back in your house with a clear conscience. Sturdy boots will be useful always.
If they're falling apart, holed and leak, then, no...chuck 'em! If they don't fit well, then give them away to charity. Someone might like a 'new' pair of boots for walking the dog in, etc.
(Now, someone make me take my own advice sometimes...;))0 -
Out
More paper into recycling bin from my endless paperwork sort that is nearly complete. Just a pile of statements left to file tonight in date order.
Paperwork into bag for shredding
IN
3 cheap DVD classics from Mr S and a paperback Marion Keyes again from Mr S (couldn't resist and thought it might cheer me up)
Few more folders to finish off the paperwork
Then finish desk drawers and under the stairs and cellar

I fluctuate clothes sizes quite a bit so I understand where you're coming from - one thing I've done is hold each item up to me in a mirror and think 'even if this fitted me right now size wise would I wear it out somewhere?' If the answers no it can go - as you say styles have changed. I tend to charity shop the decent stuff and anything else goes in the Yorkshire Air Ambulance clothes bins as they say take 'rags' for recycling.
When I'd done the above I then went back to my wardrobe about 3 months later and got rid of all the things I hadn't worn since the clear out (and not because it wasn't the right season e.g. kept jumpers as it was the summer when I did it). I now have a lot less clothes and know what I have a lot better.
There's an ebay board on here, on the list of boards it's just under shop don't know and quick grabbit while you can - there's loads of advice on selling stuff on there.

I've finally done it!!!:j :j :j :j :j :j :j
I have finished filing and sorting all paperwork from 2005 into neat folders with a new found determination never to get into this state again.
3 weeks of envelope opening, sorting, filing, filled the paper recycle bin and 3 bags of shredding from 4 carrier bags stuffed full of letters
It is such a relief it is done at last, I can now move on from this bit of my life to a new part. Decluttered at lastfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
