  • We moved this week, from a 3 bed to a 2 bed flat. So, lots of decluttering done, some still to do.

I feel I achieved a lot yesterday..went to mums and emptied out my old workshop/bedroom/misc junk from 15 years of occupation and 7 years working in IT.

    We chucked:

    3 printers
    2 CRTs
    5 PCs
boxes and boxes of computer cards, cables, odds and sods
    2 scanners
    many many drives

Still a work in progress...I'll do her garage next, then the outside shelter, then her loft..but for now she has a whole new secure and dry outbuilding for her accounting papers and storage. That'll declutter the main house a bit.

    I *must* stop hoarding junk.
  • Hi all,

I've been lurking on here for a while. I've been haphazardly trying to declutter for quite a while and I'm no on a desperate mission to sort things out before my 30th (13 months). I've lived in this house for 2 years and inherited all of the stuff from my previous relationship which in my mind is full of bad energy. Not much has a 'home' nor is it easy to get to! I have a beautifully organised craft cupboard but I can't get to it!! I'm also skint so need to give everything a whirl on ebay - uploading is so boring and time consuming, even via turbolister!!

I've just had 3 days off work which I've spent trying to find the bottom of the washing basket, running away from dust bunnies and generally wandering around wondering where to start (my house is so small that every job involves another job). I have got rid of a mountain of paperwork though - some of which related to previous, paid off financial probs - that was very liberating!!

Got to smarten myself up now and go to get a new (to me) car as my last one blew up!! I'll then be back and will hopefully sit and list some stuff on ebay.

Keep up the good work with your decluttering x

Out - 8 years of hoarding!!!

Board games, 2 boxes of books, a big box of smellies, a chest of drawers, 3 huge bags of curtains, blankets and clothes.

Just got the linen to sort now.
    And the videos and dvds.

    In.....a new carpet.

    Phew, it's been a week-and-a-half this week.
Be glad to go back to work Monday for a rest ;)

Not much achieved this week - finding it extremely hard with builders in (upstairs is out of bounds in the day) - combine that with 3 children home.....

    IN:
new small animal pet carrier for guinea pigs

    OUT:
broken pet carrier for guinea pigs
old 35mm camera to mother in law
bin liner of small toddler toys to attic for next child (achieves some space in lounge!!)
    birthday present to DDs friend

15 items listed on ebay - 3 have bids and there are 35 watchers overall..... finishing in 4-6 days.....

Have been looking at storage for new bedroom being built in loft - have told DH he needs to cull his clothes!!

To everyone else: Well done on the achievements made this week!

Well my half term manic declutter comes to the end. Feeling pleased with what I have done. The upstairs rooms are a pleasure to walk into now. Kitchen is ok (just a battle to keep clean with 4 hungry children always nosing through the cupboards - when will they learn to tidy up as they go along) Dining room and family room presentable. Would have liked to do a bit more cleaning but there is only so many hours in the day.

Good Luck Everyone with the decluttering.

  • Not done too much this week (due to plastered foot) but hoping when I am 'recast' next week that I get something on the end so I can walk on it.

    IN:
Groceries (got hubby to do a meal plan so its what we need)
Easter eggs (on special at tesco, let the children pick their own this year)

    OUT:
    Rubbish for bin
Several items on ebay (hubby posted)

Avon delivery due in tomorrow and hopefully boffer purchases to come. Will wrap and put away so I can find them come Mothering Sunday/Birthdays. Who else loses stuff they have bought in amongst the clutter?

Will attack the kitchen tomorrow - getting like a one way street - will keep you posted.
Keep up the good work ;)

  • Well the mission to get rid of a stack of plastic pots on freecycle is failing miserably!

If they don't go by Tuesday, they will have to go to the tip! I need to free up space in the garden to shuffle it all round.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

I've started round the house again as [STRIKE]valuable antiques[/STRIKE] old junk was starting to creep back in.

So far the airing cupboard & the food cupboards have been attacked.

Re-painted airingcupboard using spare paint from garage, covered shelves with spare fabric from my huge stash. Cost: FREE

Scrubbed out foodcupboard & covered shelves with oilcloth donated by my mum. Cost: FREE

    OUT:
    - dead pillow (bin)
    - elderly throw & 2 wooly hats (rough sleepers)
    - bath mat with hole in it & my hair dye towel(recycling)

    - tinned peaches dated 2004:eek: had rolled under cupboard (recycled)
    - bag of assorted (in date!) tins & packets (to church for food boxes)

    Freezer next...
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • I've developed a new strategy to clear stuff out of the house: if I leave it in the front room in front of the tv, the OH will put it in the car and take it to the tip. Anywhere else in the house and he just says "Oh I'll do it at the weekend" and never does. :rotfl:

    So yesterday
    out
    -2 bags of rubbish
    -4 things listed on ebay

    nearly out
-2 "so old even no one on freecycle wanted them" tvs in the front room ready to be removed
