Is this the thread for fudge etc?
I have seen gift bags made by folding fairly tough but pretty paper round a couple of videos, bottom edge folded neatly as for a parcel, then all secured with glue or double-sided tape, appropriate holes punched in the top edge and ribbon threaded through to make handles.
You can also make little draw-string bags from Christmassy (or other) fabric - Tesco has some really pretty one (3 for £1.50) in silver or gold, but if you wanted lots it would be cheaper to do your own.
The thread above also has a link to this site, for making lovely tiny gift boxes from greetings cards, but too small for sweets. Just thought I'd mention it 'cos you are a frugal & creative lot who will doubtless find a use!Miggy

hi weezl ,do you have a card for makro by any chance ?
i was in there yesterday and had a huge 4.5 kg piece of pork shoulder for £9 and also a 5kg piece of rump steak for £20 the pice of rump we had 27 steaks from and 1/2 kilo of diced steak from all the bits that were not big enough for a steak but will make a fab pie .
this makes a slice of steak roughly 70p i know this is above your allowance but would make a lovely treat if you use fergus's allowance as well
as everyone on here is amazing with making a little meat stretch far you can imagine how long the pork will last as well at just £2 per kilo0 -
eh weezl Alfie is having his bits snipped on Monday - do you want me to ask the vet to keep the remains and you can eat em for tea? I asked Alfie and he's happy to donate and being a frugal puss will give them free as part of the feed fergus fund:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sneaking out of lurkdom to say I'm enthralled by this thread :money: have just finished reading part 1 and am relieved to note that part 2 isn't quite as big
I generally read this in my lunch break at work and go home armed with tons of foody ideas ... so far OH has been fairly tolerant of my new hobby, although I've yet to broach the subject of a pig's head or feet - not sure he's ready for that just yet :rotfl:
Congrats to Weezl and AM on the imminent (ish) arrival :j :j fantastic news!
And slightly off-topic but, given that there are a fair few people on here familiar with the area, can anyone recommend places to stay in Cardiff? Just one Saturday night in December...
Thanks lovelies - and keep up the good work!
Now off to investigate fudge0 -
evening all...weezl Alf says do ya want em?!! He notes no comment and feels a bit dejected (being a supa cute and intelligent cat that can read!)...had gone off muttering something about "pigs brains but wont have my special bits...mummy didnt want em either"...

Hi,

Probably a really daft question.....
Polenta is made from sweetcorn, and maizemeal is made from the white mealies, but you should be able to use them in the same way. The Africans won't eat the yellow mealies - it's only fit for chickens :rotfl:. I used to love buying the roasted mealies from the roadside in Swaziland - nomnomnom0 -

Oh I remember those fondly!!!I had such a craving for them when I was pregnant in Zim. It upseted my ex greatly, having to try to find them at random times of the day.:rotfl:
