Well that makes two of us ISOM - ie not after Weezl's brother - he'd probably be young enough to be my son - so I think I'll pass on the cradlesnatching - though I'm sure he's a very nice young guy being as how he's our Weezl's brother..:D
I've got news for you though ISOM - theres a point in one's 40s where suddenly one notices a lot of younger men chatting you up....leastways that was what I found......till it struck me that it wasnt my "brain" they were after IYSWIM..;) - so you've got that still to come:D
Thank god for my 50s - where its a case (for me anyways) of "all passions spent" and on to more important things....:rotfl:0 -

Well my salad plants are growing at a rate of knots. I wanted to grow tomatoes again this year but as I am moving at the beginning of july it didn't seem practical, I know that last year once they began to get tall there was no moving them and I'd hate to have to leave them. In an ideal world I would love to have a vegetable patch but when you rent in a shared house it isn't practical so I'll have to wait until I am a proper grown up and know I am in a place for more than a year
For now I'll have to stick to the frugal shopping and cooking!
How is Fergus this morning, how is the sleep routine building? Not sure how people cope without sleep, I can barely get up in the morning as it is!God is good, all the time

Just a heads up....I checked mysupermarket.co for prices & special offers as we made plans to visit our closest MrA, 45mins drive each way for us:eek:
Anyhoo, the site definately said there was an offer on Shredded Wheat ending 12/5/09, but there was nothing to advertise it in store so I asked. Basically, the store can change its offers whenever it pleases & it is up to mysupermarket.co to update it's site.
To be fair, the assistant helping me did say that it would help if I had had a PRINTED copy of the offers I had seen, so next time I'm going tooled up

awwwww isom, how frustrating!
bigmumma that is a good tip especially if you have to go a long way to asda!:A:D
shaz, we'll be thinking of you tomorrow, hope the revision's going well, I bet you'll do fine!
sian that's a shame about the tomatoes, what a frustrating time to move! Does the new place have a garden?I know what you mean about batch cooking, it's always made me feel kinda 'wifey' even when single! but in a good way that didn't clash with my neo-feminism!
tomorrow I'm going to revisit the lentil and bacon casserole to see how the prices stack up these days, so once it's in the slo cooker, I'll do some maths!
thanks to sian and isom for asking about sleep, alas since his great trick on friday night, fergie is back to needing a feed in the night still, ah well, it was a lovely weekend treat he gave us!

very frustrating mrs weezl, but seriously I could have used the bread as a weapon the bread was so solid!! aww sorry to hear my best boy only did his sleeping act once...hope he'll do it again soon for you...
Forgot to say Ceridwen...re blokes chatting me up...dont think they do and am generally oblivious so they would have to be blatant for me to get it!! I'm hopeless...and if I thought they were I'd run a mile....Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -

Saag Aloo
Makes 12 servings
1 kg potatoes, - 29p, chop into ½ inch dice(i used half the amount and made up the difference with chick peas)
1 large 575g tin spinach- 77p, drained, keep the liquid(my tin was bigger 795g for 74p at mrM and i didn't drain it as there was hardly any liquid)
500g chopped onions- 40p
Dessertspoon Cumin,(had none left? so used ground coriander also added a tsp turneric and tablespoon of methi)
3 cloves garlic, 6p, chopped, crushed or grated(2 teasp from a jar)
½ teaspoon chilli, (1 tsp chilli flkes)
fresh coriander, 5p, I used a tenth of a 50p bunch(free from garden )
salt
100ml veg oil - 9p(didnt use)
all prices from weezls recipe last year
i have just bunged it all in the slowcooker on high until the potatoes are cooked
I was going to make rice and spinach balls but it might be too much so will do another day
will dig out recipe and post later
Shaz
can I do this with fresh spinach? I picked up 2 500g bags for 49p each so am looking for a good way to use them up!0 -
I was just looking out my window at the 'hedge' of fresh spinach I have growing in the veg plot and wondering whether to make a batch of this up, too.
