  • How is the 50p a day going? is it doable longterm? 50p might be a bit low for me to jump straight in at (normal food allowance £200/4 a month although nearer £150 spent) so might so I might try 75p :)

anyone got any tips for a newbie?

  • Green and thrifty if you have a look through Weezl proved that it was doable BUT as one who watched how she did it can confirm that it took massive amounts of hard work and organisation....if you look back she shows how and for other info try weezl vs usda which was the thread before - living on a bit more!!
There wasnt that much meat in the diet and Mr Weezl positively drooled when I made them pork at the end of the first challenge!! Mrs Weezl is also pregnant (8 months plus, I think, 1 wk) so Fergus the foetus got his own budget...
So to answer is it doable...yes but with lots of hard work! Could I do it? Absolutely not!! I just watch weezl with jaw dropping amazement and respect and feel proud of myself when I manage to leave asda spending less than 30!!! Mind you we've had some fun adventures too...read back for pigs head, elder flower, cow parsley to name a couple and theres a fergus adventure to come any time soon!!

Bob couldnt with them there sausages cos dont think they would be very happy sausages...although having said that will need to investigate piggy standards between happy and unhappy...esp as piggies generaly seem quite happy on the whole!! (well until you take them to eat...)

  • Morning all. I always seem to wake up early on days I'm 'supposed' to be lying in!!! :grr:

Another frugal day on the cards here today, I've decided as i've only spent £35 so far this month ii'm going to try and stretch out what we've got ~(cupboards / freezer) for as long as possible and see if I can get to 1st March without being anything new except cheese and eggs. Not sure if this is a good idea or not (will I just get hit with huge bill next month restocking etc. at least the old stuff should get used up!!

I am having a small blow out today and buying a pump thermos (£24.50) so that will eventually pay for itself as I won't be using leccy daily to boil kettle 10 times!!!!

    Whats everyone else up to?
