Simplifying Life - Mark II

Hi mary
It's okay....take your time....the last couple of weeks has been a shock to the system.
I'm on my "second wind" now - standing there washing-up thinking "but Mary's not a geriatric or anything - what the (bleep) were they doing putting her on a ward like that??? " That most certainly was NOT appropriate. Hmmm.....well...lets just say you'll have my sympathies if you decide to take things further on that front.....as I CERTAINLY would have a thing (or dozen) to say if I had been treated that way myself.
If you decide to do any "official" letters of complaint anywheres....feel free to send me one to "cast my eyes" over to see if I can think of owt re the phrasing of it. (I'll send you my realworld address for this - if you want to that is). 'Tis entirely up to you - you may decide to "put it all behind you" and I could understand that as well. People differ in the way they wish to handle things...me I'm just an "old campaigner" at heart....but you may very well think "least said - soonest forgotten".....people differ in temperament.

Hello everyone,
Mary - :grouphug: so shocked to hear your news but glad that you have escaped. Thank you for finding the time to let us all know :A My eldest DD is a care assistant about to embark on a nursing degree & sadly her tales confirm your experience.
I am glad to hear that your brother is being so thoughtful & that you are now able to get some rest without stress of responsibilities of any kind.
I wish you a full & timely recovery, you will be in my thoughts
best wishes

Hi Mary
Pleased to see you are back. We've all missed you, as you can see. Take care. Let's hope they can sort whatever it is without you needing to go back in.
Love from Charis0 -
Thankyou all for missing me:o Reassuring to know there are folk out there who may not know me but care anyway.
ceridwen - thanks for pm. No I shan't give up on this one.......complain I will !! Probably won't do any good but will get it off my chest. Woke up last night thinking I was back in the ward..........very scary !!Just knowing what to say and how to say it really..............it'll come to me when the brains a bit clearer...............lol
Seems I brought a water infection home with me.......... so been to gp and got tablets for that, signed off from kids and soc.serv. for another 2 weeks, blood test next week and we'll see where I go from there.Mary

You just look after you my dear
glad you can still manage to type a bit though. Jot down all your thoughts, feelings & frustrations & anger for now then you can assemble it coherently when feeling stronger.
I think you'll be exempt from simplifying & decluttering for a bit so how about I do a double effort to make up for it - I certainly need to
hugs

I just had a really awful time with a skin thing - in all the folds of legs & arms& ears - the doc said thrush and gave me cream for that which made the whole thing erupt and inflamed. Went back she said oh its dermatitis here have another load of cream. I tried it, and the hot itchy red rough skin got ulcerated and weepy. I binned the whole lot and took salt baths, used teatree oil and vinegar and shea butter - and the whole area is now perfect !
SO apologies for making everybody sick, but the moral is dont rely solely on bl00dy doctors LOL ! I am right back into my herbal/folk cures stuff now, at least for non-serious conditions.0 -
mardatha, what a pain (literally!), is it like eczma? like you, I prefer the natural stuff wherever possible!... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Hi Mary
Thanks for the P.M. Sorry to hear you "brought" another problem out of hospital with you. A blessing anyway that you didnt discover that one till after you came out.
I can certainly well understand if you decide to complain formally to the Hospital. I can only speak for what I would do personally - which is send a copy of the letter and the hospital's reply to my local newspaper - as I would imagine you arent the first to have experienced such treatment. It was a shock to me to see someone who is perfectly "compos mentis" put in a ward with people with dementia - I would have screamed merry hell if it had happened to me personally. I wasnt aware that hospitals did that sort of thing - I presume it was down to shortage of beds - but its inexcusable.
It was the last thing you needed in the circumstances - I can see that.
Anyways - I see Lula's point re taking care of you and its understandable whichever decision you make about this - whether it be to forget it as best possible as soon as possible or complain.
I am thinking it may be possible to follow a halfway house thing on this - as in sending your letter to hospital and their (doubtless) anodyne response back to the Editor of your local newspaper - and enclose a brief cover letter stating just words to the effect of "I do not feel able to pursue this matter any further myself - due to my current circumstances - but it was extremely upsetting and I am concerned that this has probably happened to other patients as well as myself - and is likely to happen again - if the hospital takes no action on this. I would be happy to put my name to any campaign your paper wishes to run on this - but I'm sure you understand why I do not feel up to doing anything further myself."
Its just a thought thrown into the "mix" for consideration as to one possible way to handle it.
I can quite see why anyone would feel scared at the best of times at being put in such circumstances.
Anyways...lass...plenty of rest for you methinks...dont go feeling like you have to "do everything yesterday".
Take care.
love

Rosie, it was red weals, hot and itchy and rough. It must have been something I used in the bath I think, cant remember as I have loads of bath gunk. But am shocked that the doc got it all so wrong- she is always covered in nail varnish and bangles and I just dont think her heart is in the job at all.I have a good herbal and a book on kitchen cures here somewhere and from now on I will use them !!0
