    Thinking of you Mary

Ceridwen - liking the new sig - very apt
  • Hi everyone
I've been lurking for a long while but haven't posted on here yet. I'm taking part in the Live on £4000 for a year challenge - so far successfully:D and have made huge changes in my life to simplify.
    1. I've traded in my well paid very stressful getting me down job for a part time job that I've always wanted to do but never felt that financially I could achieve.
    2. I've sorted out my debts, and have paid back everything with an interest free family loan which I am paying back every month.
    3. I've been overpaying my mortgage every month with the aim of being financially secure
    4. I got married to a man I really love who treats me well and I'm proud to be with
    5. I've started doing my own cooking instead of ready meals, being more environmentally friendly, and thinking about my actions and purchases.
    6. I've become more creative - mosaics, sewing, crafts - now that I have more time
    7. I've finally got my medical condition diagnosed and am in the process of completely changing my diet and lifestyle to a more simple organic one to heal myself.
I already have the decluttering under control - I've always been organised and tidy - and am trying to freecycle everything I don't need or use. Just want to get my spiritual side sorted out now :D

Many thanks for your kind thoughts ceridwen, lula, gigervamp

Been and had further mammogram and I've got 'calcifications' -not heard of them before but they're spots of calcium salts and can be formed for several reasons, one being the very early sign of something very nasty ! But it is a very very early sign if it turns out that way. The spots are so tiny doctor couldn't tell so I'm to have a biopsy to make sure. Must admit I feel better for knowing a bit more about it. Even the sun shone when we came out of the hospital and we were only there an hour so OH was well happy -car parking only cost him £1..............:rotfl:

skint chick - you're doing so well, the spititual side will just fall into place I'm sure

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

MARY - Well I'd say overall that sounds like a reasonably positive verdict to me - as they say there's several OTHER things that these calcium salts could be (besides the early signs of something nasty) on the one hand - and, on the other hand, they DID say "VERY VERY EARLY signs" if its the worse option - in other words you've caught it extremely early if thats the case. So - the biopsy should reveal exactly whats what presumably? When is that going to be - do you know? But - overall - that sounds like a pretty positive appointment that you had - thats definitely dealable with and now you have a better idea about this. So - I'm pretty optimistic myself for you.

SKINT CHICK - That sounds like a very positive rollcall of what you've been doing. That is a very big positive thing that you are married to someone like that. Happy marriages dont sound that frequent to me - but it sounds like you've very much got the right one for you - so thats good and pleased for you. Definitely one of the most positive things anyone can have in their life I would think is to be married to the right person - so thats a lot of pluses there of itself in your life. Hope the medical condition resolves itself - but, from the sound of the rest of your life, I'm feeling pretty optimistic for you. (PS I've not forgotten the book - that and the pillowcases that are going elsewhere in the country are waiting for me to get a spare second to send them - 'twill be within the next few days - I just had to get a few urgent bits and bobs dealt with..)

LULA - I've been giving some thought to Aril's latest quote and she does have a point on that one (mind you - Aril's quotations are always well worth reading) - and I thought she might not mind if I "borrowed" it. As for the rest of the quote - back from my Quaker days in the past - I recall a poster that rather took my fancy - it was of 2 donkeys who both wanted to eat a hedge. They were both yoked together and one was trying to eat the hedge on the left and the other was trying to eat the hedge on the right - so they pulled in different directions to get to the respective hedges they were aiming for. The result would have been that they both went hungry. They then realised that it would be much more beneficial if they both ate the hedge on the left and then both ate the hedge on the right - so heading in the same direction meant they both ate their fill. To me - I am a visual person - I'm well aware that my language is peppered with saying "I see" this/that/the other and "I see what you mean" - so this picture summed up a 1,000 words to me.

Hi Mary, it was calcifications my sis had too. She had one biopsy (is that a needle biopsy?) but it was inconclusive, so she had to have a surgical one. That showed no cancerous cells, so she is just on an increased checkup/mammogram schedule so they will catch anything that does start to turn. I'd never heard of them either, before she had them.
  • Mary, getting it caught this early is good, you may have to have the calcifications removed but even this is better than the other options :D

If you ever want someone to talk this over with who has been through it please feel free to pm me,

Ah...eureka....found a picture of that there poster I referred to of the two donkeys:

    http://www.quaker.org.uk/shared_asp_files/GFSR.asp?NodeID=94214

thats the one I meant - much better than my description:cool:

a thing worth remembering I think. There are times when it is necessary to "stand up and fight" in life - but I really do not rate people "fighting" for the sake of an "adrenaline rush" - which is what it seems to me is sometimes the reason for doing so on a personal level.

    Good evening to all,

Mary - so far so good then: and as others have already said, very very early means if necessary then prompt 'defensive' action can be taken. Still sending postive thoughts your way & just so you dont wallow & wonder I suggest you get on with a bit more decluttering ;) .

Ceridwen - thank you for that post & pic -:T . I confess to not knowing much at all about Quaker faith until I recently read a novel in which a major character was a Quaker. I was intrigued to learn of weekly meetings where people sat companionably in silent contemplation rather than being lectured amongst 'pomp & ceremony'. You are absolutely right about Arils quotes too, I'm still reading the old thread & found this one today :

"Let your boat of life be light, packed with only what you need - a homely home and simple pleasures, one or two friends worth the name, someone to love and someone to love you...enough to eat and enough to wear, and a little more than enough to drink for thirst is a very dangerous thing."
    J. K. J.

Hello skint-chick, I recognise that name, I believe you are a fellow escapee from DFW - It's lovely here, all calm & soothing & people talk sense :j

Not done an awful lot today other than bake more hobnobs :o & yummy potato corn bake.

    lula
