Hello all,
hoping today is a little brighter for you Mary - not sure if you're aware of them but there's a brilliant site called Glasses Direct which you can click through via Quidco - Oh yes, I'm a DFW in case you'd not noticed  - I ordered a pair last friday for only £29 & they were delivered today complete with a little mirror, case & a free sweetie eyeballthat i will pass on to DD. Considering that I spent over £300 previously at a certain optician  it makes me wonder what the justification was.
Thanks for your post pagangirl & although I do agree, like Ceridwen think I'll avoid controversy or possibly offending anyone. i'm definitely going to try that test though ....

I slept well thankyou ceridwen - stomach still churning but I expect it will -trying not to let this 'hiccup' get in the way of other things but have to confess to a lazy day so far, not helped by the tantrums of an 'off school' youngster waiting for transport to collect him to take him to mums. Much banging or doors and shouting - but he's gone now so we should have a peaceful weekend.
Regards the various faiths, I listen to 'Pause for Thought' most mornings on Radio 2 (yes I''m a Wogan fan..........lol) and think as I listen to whats said I cant help thinking to myself that I seem to be a bit of everything - not sure what that's called
Lula -I've seen somewhere about those specs..........good price but I think I'd worry if they arrived and weren't quite right. I have varifocals and if they don't sit just right on my nose everything is distorted and as I wear them all the time -quite lost without them - its so easy to pop down the road and have them adjusted. Have to have that done from time to time anyway and scared myself I was going blind last year when one of the lenses moved when I cleaned them...........it has come lose -fell out the following day so I knew it wasn't me. I'm useless without them, close work or distance and our optician knows me so well now so I stick to him. Thanks for that anyway. Maywell suit OH. He goes to specsavers at the minute.
By the way, have you started on those drawers yet................:rotfl:
pagangirl and 2cats..........thankyou for your kind thoughts and reassurance
I really didn't mean to pile my health 'hiccups' on to you but felt better for it so thanks for being thereMary

hi all, big hugs and positive vibes flowing to you since i read your post last night , Mary. i did try and post last night but lap top is going a bit dodgy - think it is a battery prob as wont hold any charge, won't even run off leccy sometimes:(. it just keeps saying low battery and then going into hibernation at the crucial moment - as in just as i click the submit reply button. hey ho... taking it to local comp repair shop 2 moro as i spied their website and lucky ol' me - mine is one of the two types of lappy they stock/ repair so hopefully they can fix without me doing the runaround buying new battery/charger whatever only to discover it's not that at all!!
so if i'm absent a few days you'll know why... OH has a lappy which i'm not keen on, but might have to use if i get withdrawal symptoms from being off here.
anyway hope you are all having a simplified day - those with snow - enjoy going slow! i would love to be snowed in for a couple of days... peace, tranquility, no rushing around - just a lovely slow pace of life.
OH has decided (he thinks) he wants to move to another country - i'm thinking canada... log cabin or in a quiet little town over there, at one with nature an living a simpler life - he's thinking Dubai:eek: oh dear !credit card debt at LBM Nov 2006 £11,300:eek:

Mary - drawers
 :shhh: that's all I have to say on the matter
Your tale of lens falling out did make me chuckle - have had a similar experience when using a contact lens - terrifying & then rather embarassing  I get my lenses from specsavers & they're great but glasses a bit too much for me.
Firework - Canada... Dubai
far too footballers wivesy for my liking although the climate does appeal. Hope you get laptop problem sorted swiftly.
I'm off to declutter the dining table now & simplify that little area back into a dining table.0 -
Huggles to Mary - keep thinking positive.
Firework - Dubai??? What is the man thinking of? I nearly emigrated to Canada once, if I could I would do it now in a flash.0 -

Mary - Think what you're called is "eclectic" - perhaps it could be put as a "collector of the best from all faiths":D .
Hmm....they've changed that test on Beliefnet since I did it before - I came up as 100% Buddhist this time - I've gained a few percentage points there then:cool: and 95% New Age (?), 94% neo-pagan.....oh well....
Lula-Hula - now you just know our Mary has the "bit between her teeth" now about those drawers of yours.....:rotfl: does that sorta give you an incentive - so they "come off the agenda"?:D
Mary - as for "health hiccups" - well 'tis fair enough to share them with us....'tis summat we all have of one description or another at some point....whats that phrase "into each life a drop of rain must fall" or something.......'cept that sometimes it feels like rather a large downpour coming into our lives  - now there's a new concept of friendship for the day....as an "umbrella" to help "shelter" us from the storms of life...
Firework - Dubai!!!! Yikes.....ahhhhh!!!!! Personally - I definitely wouldnt want to go within hundreds of miles of living out there.....as a woman....double that....You wouldnt want to - believe me - errr....think you've already come to that conclusion somehows..... In my experience though men tend to have these "fantasies" about throwing everything up in the air and then seeing just where the dust settles....can't say I've ever noticed any of them doing so so far......Latterly I got into the habit of "hmmmm......yes I see why that sounds appealing...each to their own - wouldnt appeal to me personally....hmmm....yes I see why that sounds appealing.....would you like a drink?" At a very pragmatic level - you could just try reminding him of just how high the temperatures go in countries like that....0 -
ceridwen - elcectic ? ...........Ummmmm.....got a nice ring to it.I can live with that. As for the 'drop of rain..........' quote, there's another similar......'in order to see a rainbow you have to have the rain' -or something like that, plus others - 'we;re never given more than we can cope with' -that sort of thing. All very meaningful I think.
Lula - me and my lens has nothing on OH when he broke his specs before christmas and tried a 'home made' Jack Duckworth style 'fix-it' with paper clips. We'd been to see my son calling at mums on the way. At mums his lens fell out and he popped it back in. Got to my sons and he pops to local optician to have it made more secure but they were so bent about -he'd had them several years and sat on them twice - as a result the lens fell out again -was put back and on the way home, stopping for petrol the lens fell out and he sat on it !! Drove home minus specs on a wing and a prayer -then came the DIY repair job which totally collapsed on him the Friday before Christmas so he ended up going to specsavers for new ones anyway. Not sure whether he was being very 'mse' by trying to fix them himself or couldn't be bothered to get the bus to get a new pair................lol
Now, when you've simplified and de-cluttered dining table..............those drawers................I won't stop banging on about them...........I'm longing to know exactly whats in them, being of the 'nosey' persuasion (sounds better if I call it curious)................says she who is currently surrounded my endless 'mess' - desk I cleared and cluttered up again, still haven't re-framed the pile of pictures and I've and empty egg box and six small plastic containers that I'd got a plan for using for christmas/birthday/easter pressies.........not sure what or which yet. So, I've no right to go on about your drawers have I................but I will anyway..........eventually it'll rub off and you'll thank me for it.................lol:rotfl: (least I hope so)...seriously...........in your own time.........I know what its like.
And will you keep nagging me about my mess ? Someone needs to........OH is beginning to accept it as 'the norm'..............:rotfl:
moggins - keep those positive thoughts coming and many thanks
firework - likewise..........many thanks.
My computer has been playing up (hate being beaten by a machine)as well so it I disappear please don't thinkI've gone into a dark corner..it'll be my lap top deciding it doesn't want to play,
Now................tomorrow I must, really must, do something positive.........haven't felt like it today I must admit but I've the whole weekend free of any tantrums from a 12yr old who thinks he's 17........no excuse not to achieve something by the end of the day........so watch this space.Mary

ha ha - i know - dubai - i ask you! talk about poles apart - lol! don't think i'd even fancy it for a hol tbh - just not my scene. he's been watching that Piers morgan programme on tv this week (basically Piers seems to gad about all these ridiculously wealthy places - dubai and monaco so far, telling us how fabulously wealthy it all is - yawn). i only caught bits of it - deliberately as it does not interest me in the slightest and tbh dubai left me cold - just one big monument to obscene wealth, consumerism gone mad and the worship of the mighty dollar. sad sad sad...
monaco i must admit did look more picturesque and less showy.credit card debt at LBM Nov 2006 £11,300:eek:

Hehe, I must add another story about lenses.
16 years ago when I was expecting DS we were extremely poor, I used to drive a bright yellow Vauxhall Viva and was in the habit of putting my glasses on the dashboard, one day I did this and the lens fell out and went down the air vent.
Because I couldn't afford to replace the lens I had to lie upside down on the drivers seat with my head in the footwell, I put sticky tape on my fingers and fished around in the curved air vent in the footwell until I retrieved said lens! None of my neighbours were ever unkind enough to comment on the strange site of a 7 months pregnant woman with her legs in the air on the driver side of a bright yellow car0 -
lol moggins... oh for a camera:rotfl: (hopefully no-one did get you on camera - you be you tubed by now.)
i once walked around town for about a half hour before realising the lens had fallen out of my specs... worst part is they were sunglasses - wondered why i kept getting funny lookscredit card debt at LBM Nov 2006 £11,300:eek:
