I just checked the other comp and tried to download nero and that is taking over 3 hours aswell for 188mb. I can't do the speed test, my brother is on at the moment but alll he is on is msn0

Might be worth switching the router of for at least 15 mins to give it a chance to sort itself out with the exchange.
If that don't work then you might have to bite the bullet and ring aol tech support.0 -
that is bad im nearly 2km from the exchange and in what they call an amber area and can get 3.5mb connection its actually 3.2mb on the speed tests. I have had slow internet now and then and its usually down to bt working on there system (im with BT Internet) but when you ring them they dont tell you that for some bizzare reason."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

I think you need to speak to AOL those speeds are not what you should be getting for your money. I would also consider changing ISP, you could theoretically 6meg+ line in your location.
BTW are you on an extention because there was a discussion the other day about internal phone wiring causing slowdown."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

i'm not sure what you mean by extension. the downstairs router is connected to the downstairs computer and the phone socket. Then there is an ethernet cable from the router into a homeplug. Then up here there is a homeplug connected to an ethernet cable going into my pc0

is the downstairs router connected to the master telephone socket or an extension socket?
Do you have any phone extension sockets?
and if you do have they got broadband filters and telephones attached?"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

yeah all of them have filters and i dont think it is the master as the master is in the hallway and there is not enough space to put a computer there but we have been using the extension for over 5 years now with no problems0

have you always had your speed like this?
14/09/08 21:46:30Speed Down1366.68 Kbps ( 1.3 Mbps )Speed Up318.13 Kbps ( 0.3 Mbps )Port8095
The reason I ask is that you should be getting upto 6.5mbps, if you pay for a 1.5mb line then thats correct.
What people have done is remove one of the three wires on the extension box (the bell wire) theres a thread on it (do a search for bell wire) and its seemed to improve peoples connection speeds when attaching a router to an extention phone socket."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
