Ultimately they will send debt collectors round and you'll probably get a CCJ.
Have you tried contacting them to say you are in trouble and see if they can help in anyway? You have nothing to lose if you aren't going to pay them anyhow.Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08
ANOTHER 4 % June 09:beer:0 -
They will keep writing and phoning your address and will phone your work place.
If you own your own home, they will put a charge on it (depending on how much you owe them).
If all that fails and providing you have not left a forwarding address then NOTHING will happen.0 -
Would the same happen with a reposession? If you'd already gone0

The people who lived in our house before us have moved to Australia and have left a lot of debt. We keep getting chased by debt collectors and they have tried to get into our house to reposess our stuff, took me threatening to call the police to get rid of them as they wouldnt listen to me that the debt was nothing to do with me.0

Depending which bank or CC company it is, and where you're moving to, there could be a clause in your T&Cs saying that they will use their foreign businesses to track you down if you go away. HSBC definitely have this clause, I would imagine Citibank and the others that have multinational operations have something similar.
Basically, if they can they'll hunt you down.
Ultimately, you should feel bad because you borrowed lots of money, spent it on crap and then didn't repay it.0 -

if you owe money to people who have been kind enough to lend you it then pay them just like the rest of us. have to.
if you go abroad and not pay them you will never rest because you will always be looking over your shoulder.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
someone else whos got the same name as you will get chased for your debt.some rotter did this it took over 12 months for me to sort out :mad:0

Absolutely nothing will happen. Basically some guy we know used our address to get credit cards. He maxed them all out by gambling, then lost all the money. The cards kept phoning us up and threatening repossession but we just said this guy don't live here anymore and why were stupid enough to give him a card if he doesnt have a house. eventually they gave up and he's pretty much gotten away with. he hasn't fled the country or nothing as far as i know and the police aren't after him. All that will happen is noone will ever lend to you again.0

I hope you never want to come back to the country - you may get arrested on re-entry.You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0
