  • ahhhh flylady! i had no idea what that was...d'uh!
Thanks for the responses. I don't have any children as yet just me ,DH and the dog, so i feel really guilty getting myself into a state over what I have to do!!
I'm not naturally a housework fiend, but i find that if i walk into a messy, cluttered room i feel...bleugh, lol! which makes me feel lazy (no idea why)
Today i am going to tidy the study, and file all the bills and paperwork away from the mountains on the desk, and clean the bathroom, and hoover the stairs and the bedrooms. Then i'm going to have a cup of tea and watch 'A touch of Frost' hehe!

Sounds like a plan to me. I love plans and lists so this works brilliant for me - Pigpen is our leader and a hard taskmaster and she adds to the first post on here every evening ready for the next day - you can do as much or as little of it as you want, plus you may have other tasks you need to do too (you'll see peoples lists posted on here plus the extras they want to do...)

So basically you make it suit your own routine - which if you don't yet have one, this is a good place to start!

Everyone on here is friendly (But watch Valli :rotfl: ) only joking, everyone is great and helpful and supportive and once you start you will be hooked - good luck and welcome!

  • I did it!! That was much quicker than i thought!! I also registered on the electoral roll online and I found tickets to a stand-up show in Nov. that i'd forgotten I'd bought! Yay!
now to fill in my budget spreadsheet with payslip details... is it weird that I am finding this fun??

  • Hi! 1st post. wondering if you OSers could help. I am a traditional housewife, and making a wonderful safe and comforting home for my family is really important to me. The thing that I have a problem with is structuring my day in order that all jobs get done. Does anybody have a plan to make things go smoothly?

In the 1930s or 1950s did a housewife learn a particular set routine from her mother??? I love learrning about the past and wondered if anybody had any wisdom to share, i.e. do i do my baking in the morning? or is it better to do the washing them? etc.

sorry if this sounds a bit rambling, but i am in my mid 20s and I grew up in care so i have had no useful skills passed down to me!

    please help :D

Hi, I'm sure we all have little things that work for our household based on who we are looking after and what household gadgets we have. I'll try and give you some ideas of what i do to help get 2 under 2's and a DH who works long hours organised.

    AM:
    • All of us dressed before coming downstairs (clothes laid out night before)
    • WM turned on while kettle boils (loaded evening before)
    • steriliser run (loaded night before)
    • washing hung out if possible
    • lunch and dinner components taken out of freezer to defrost
    Afternoon:
    • wash up breakie and lunch stuff while kids nap
    • quick tidy up of toys
    • prep any veg or put dinner on high in SC
    • run hoover round downstairs after DS has eaten his tea - so about 5ish
    • kids bath-time, sort next load of washing if i can
    Evening:
    • cook proper dinner trying to do leftovers where possible
    • kitchen is cleaned/sorted while it cooks
    • DH washes up for me
    • I hang up washing/do ironing/empty TD
    • I do any baking i want to do - if the kids were older i dare say i would get this prepped in the afternoon and then in the oven while dinner cooked
    • If i was using the BM, i would get that on to be done for the AM when we wake up.
    • lay out clothes for next day, reload WM,
On Fridays i menu plan so we can get the stuff on a weekend shop. Also, we all try to do a room a day on here. I guess that is my daily routine anyway, hope that gives you some ideas and i am sure my fellow flyladies will have more.
