Why bother with anything, in that case?
I guess many people want to act when they experience something unjust, feeling the need to right a wrong. Others prefer to sit on their bums, pointing and criticising, while doing nothing for themselves or others. I know which sort I'd rather be. So does the OP.
The revolution starts by burning down all the tescos in cornwall...."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

I was in Tesco the other day and decided to purchase some chilled pomegranate juice. I always check the dates on fresh things and noticed that one of the three they had left was three and a half weeks over the date.
Fair enough these things happen, but such a long time seemed quite bad to me. I handed it to a member of staff who said thanks and checked for any more.0 -
It's CORNWALL for goodness sake!
They sleep with their sisters down there, they have webbed toes and pointy heads.
There are no roads so it probably took the lorry driver 18 months to reach Redruth.
This is very true.....a mate of mine (who loves telling everyone this) who is from cornwell......has a son who's mum is the sister of his wife....which makes him the cousin to his half brothers and makes his aunty his stepmum....:DIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

The Beef Jerky was wasn't just a couple of days past its Use By date - when, legally, it'd already be considered unfit for human consumption - it was 19 months past it. Would you want your child to eat that? Or your grannie? Or you? Not everyone would have thought to check the Use By date before tucking in... after all, it had been bought from Tesco, not a car boot sale, right?
Food for thought, I'd say.
Sorry to be pedantic, but the fitness for consumption is a legal term, and can only be determined by microbiological testing, and you'd be amazed at the number of food complaints that I've submitted to the Public Analyst which have come back as fit for consumption when I'd have bet my granny that they'd have been unfit!0 -
Yes, point taken, amandada - that's why I'd added the word 'legally' to my sentence - but the whole purpose of the dates is to give guidance on what's fit to eat, and what may not be. Why have them otherwise?
Personally, if I've got food in my kitchen past its Use By/Best Before date that still looks and smells reasonably fresh, I'll eat it. Folks who throw away perfectly good food just because of the date on it must be bonkers! But that's my own personal choice, so I eat it at my own risk. I don't want Tesco making those kind of choices on my behalf, particularly if they're charging me full whack for the privilege!LinasPilibaitisisbatman wrote: »I dont think tesco where knowingly selling out of date food
Ha! They must have short memories then. For example, see this news item linked to by codger earlier which starts "TESCO is being prosecuted over claims that it has been selling out-of-date food at five Devon supermarkets — including a month-old pizza". It's from less than three weeks ago.0
