Strangely, Greece is not a winter sun destination, lots of resorts close down at the end of September so be careful you don't end up somewhere which is almost deserted!!0

TBH I think a package at a good price can be just as cheap as DIY.
Much of Spain & the Balerics won't be that warm in October (could be wet). The Costa Del Sol will be warm but is the more expensive part.
Thats why I suggested Turkey, because of the Euro & the decent weather for a short haul location.0 -

Olu Deniz area is fab (& warm).
The Bodrum peninsular has nice parts.
My vote for a first timer is Olu though.
Look at AI its really cheap in Turkey. But if you go AI go for a decent one & then you know you will get your moneys worth.
Look at Portland Direct, look at the Beleziki (SP???) Beach Hotel in Olu & The Olu Deniz Resort Hotel & Lykia World.

Sorry:o All Inclusive
If you get an AI for a similar price to SC, B&B or HB then you don't mind if its crappy & you eat out because you haven't paid anymore anyway.
BUT if you have paid extra, make sure its a good one.
Type the hotel name & resort into google & hit search, loads of reviews will come up.
Try to avoid half term week, more money & more busy.0 -
..& look on First Choices LAST MINUTE section, they are sending out emails to drum up trade, I got one today.0
