Hmmm,
well all I can say is that I have earned a LOT of money from people using paypal on my auctions, and, whilst I feel that paypal (an eaby owned company - funny how they seem to have all angles covered) charge an EXTORTIONATE amount of money to the seller, I would have earned less than one third of my last months ebay income if it had not been for their service.
So, bottom line is....
There ain't nothing you can do about it so learn to live with it - after all.... no one is FORCING you to use paypalDon't worry - Be Happy :dance:0 -
I notice the OP is keeping quiet on this one :silenced:

OK for all you experienced MSE peeps out ther this may sound soooooooo dumb, but what's 'OP' mean?
Sorry, feel really stupid now.... :doh:Don't worry - Be Happy :dance:0 -
OP =Original Poster
I still feel dumb and I've been coming here for months.

These personal attacks are totally uncalled for. If you can't debate the issue, then at least observe Martin's advice to be nice to all moneysavers.
This is not a personal attack. It is not moneysaving to be promoting an expensive method of doing anything.
I don't know how you can think it's false economy not to offer it - I've sold about 50 things in the last month and haven't been offering it at all because https://www.paypalsucks.com . I am forced to accept it for foreign auctions and that is how it will stay (without surcharge but without paypal for the majority).
I did try discounts, but they are too complicated for people to understand0 -

My signature does point out that my opinions are my own and when I post on here in general discussions I post my own opinions just like anyone else. If any user at all on any thread whatsoever feels I have abused my BG role then my posts can be reported just like anyone elses. The direct way of doing this is to click on the red triangle on the post to be reported and that will call up a direct email window to Abcon.
However, yes I do think paypal has some advantages over cheques as there is an element of protection when using it. *personally* I have had problems with cheques being recalled aafter supposedly clearing so I don't consider losing my ebay sales money to be very moneysaving. Obviously if I had previously had problems with paypal then I would hold a different opinion and would feel free to express that.
Also, it must be remembered that whilst many of us on here are sellers we also have buyers as well. I could not possibly recommend to anyone in my own personal opinion of course, that they pay for any ebay auction by using a method like a direct bank transfer where they have absolutely no protection against either a dishonest seller or a seller that believes they are not responsible for items lost in the post.

I feel i must point out that this is untrue. Soolin's role as a Board Guide is to ensure the general running of this board under the rules and guidelines we give.
She is, in essence, a regular user and is allowed to have an opinion like any other poster. Nothing we have seen so far would suggest that Soolin's comments are abusive and therefore she is contributing to the discussion in a perfectly acceptable manner.
Soolin is an excellent board guide and on numerous occasions will spend time offering help to other eBay users, aswell as ensuring that she carries out her BG responsibilities to a high standard.
If anyone has any further issue on this matter, please contact abuse and keep personal views off of this board.
I hope this clears the matter up; this is generally a very helpful and productive board with some great contributors and we wish to keep it that way
