I think that reporting someone for something so trivial is a bit petty when you consider the amount of REAL scams going on via eBay - if someone were to start reporting every single listing where there was a possibility that it may have breached one of eBay's many rules & regulations on a technicality, then it would take you for ever (and all the REAL scammers would still be out there doing their thing !!!!!!)
I completely agree, it is blatantly not a surcharge.0 -
Haha - I've just noticed the OP's username - ironically, it wasn't HIM who reported the listing :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

That's the first time I've reported someone, they won't know it's me will they?
Hope you feel good about wasting someone's time if this gets pulled. You shouldn't be doing ebays job for them, there is nothing illegal with this auction. It's just against ebay's unfair rules.0 -
cougar wrote:How completely sad. Of course people are going to charge for paypal and they should have every right to!
When a person signs up to use ebay and paypal they agree to a set of terms and conditions. One of those conditions is that ebay do not allow surcharging except in certain prescribed instances.
Therefore they do not have a 'right' to do otherwise.
If people did have the right to ignore the terms they sign up for then it would follow they also have the right not to abide by any of the other rules and regulations either, which I find worrying. I don't think we would want to get to the stage where users can pick and choose which rules they will adhere to and which they will ignore.

......personally I offer postage at BELOW cost if people don't use paypal.
only small discounts tho, if something costs me £5 to post, if they dont use paypal i'll charge £4 or something like that
point being, if they used paypal i'd loose more in fees than i've lost by discounting postage. this way both people gain by not using paypal!!
note that i don't charge excessive postage, i charge actual costs on my auctions, stamps and packing materials, thats it.money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Soo
Absolute rubbish, what a load of tosh. Get your facts right first.
Ebay's rules say you can't surcharge. You are perfectly entitled to offer discounts on alternative forms of payments. There is nothing ebay can do about this, although they'd like to. It is very different to set a price and offer discounts than it is to add additional costs to the finishing price.
Why are people acting like NetKops and actively supporting ebay in their rip off monopoly tactics
If someone pays me by a method that saves me money then why shouldn't I be allowed to pass that back to the buyer. Everytime somebody buys a laptop from me and pays by cheque, that saves me £20.
Soolin, I am also annoyed, that as the board guide, you are siding with PayPal (your post 19/11 5.28) and suggesting that people offering a discount are overcharging on postage and are possibly scamming buyers.
Please remove these remarks and stop making suggestions like this or I shall be forced to make a complaint against you. You have a responsibility to be impartial and not make judgements like that.0 -
Personally i dont think this seller is doing anything wrong, if buyer cant pay by paypal or generally doesnt want too, then the seller is by-passing their ebay fees which they return this saving to the buyer (could be more profit to them), I would say morally this seller is more honest then most! (i know ebay wouldnt agree).0

I think it's quite refreshing to see someone offering a discount on ebay instead of trying to diddle you out of any spare cash you've got and I can't believe people are complaining about it!!2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

E-bay and Paypal have people over a barrel IMO. If sellers choose fee avoidance (which is how they look at it) then to make up for the loss in fees, the overall charges will go up and all the others sellers end up paying more.Bulletproof0
