I have a spider survival technique if you want to try it, you still have to be brave though.
    1. find a boot that is quite flat on the bottom and put you hand in it
    2. Carefully get as close to the spider as you dare
    3. be very brave and hit the spider very hard with the sole of the boot
    4. leave the squished remaines for OH to clean up
    too close for me

Why on EARTH would some SADDO want to do that?
Why not just be honest and SAY HELLO?

Don't use a boot Jinks - they squish down flat under it and hide then pop up scaring the bejesus out of you. Hanky squishing is the only way...

    aagghh need a vent

Daughters!!!!! I am the mother from hell so it seems. Here's the story. Last weekend Jas went to audition for a part in Oliver with some theatre company who dropped some flyers in her school. She was offered a part in the chorus. All good, but, when the info came through I thought they were having a bloody laugh. They want £85 per child to take part in the production. On top of that the rehearsals are 5 miles away every Sunday at 9.30 between now and the end of November with the performance dates on 24th to 28th inc.

So, I said I thought it was a bloody rip off. They shouldn't be charging the kids to take part, they get all of the ticket sales to cover costs.. I know, I work in the flippin industry! Plus I explained I can't possibly commit to driving her every Sunday or go to the performances because sometime in November I'll be a little tied up giving birth. I thought that was that.

So this evening she was organising going for a sleepover at her friends and said she had to be home for 9 because she was going to rehearsals. I said 'excuse me?' when did I agree to this? Cue stropping, crying, screaming and begging. I stood my ground but she made me feel awful, telling me how they have had to put up with loads over the years because of my career and how I wasn't supporting her. I said I would happily pay for her to go to proper tuition for singing and dancing if that's what she wanted but I am not lining the pockets of a production company who are exploiting kids. But that isn’t good enough, she wants to do this show.

So, she went with the hump and hating me.... on top of that she started her period this week and is full of hormones. Sigh.

  • Oh Toto,
God help me when Freya gets to that age, she's a right little madam now and she's not even 6 yet!
I agree with your stance and agree you should stand your ground but....

I wish I was in a West End show *sigh*
