LMB, there`s a whole thread about it on this board, what you have in mind sounds good, but it depends what sort of credit limits they hand out remember all the disapointment with Barclaycard 12mth 0% limits.0

Yes I was thinking along those lines too - but they say that up to £25,000 is available for balance transfers or a credit limit of £10,000 otherwise. They say the credit limit varies from person to person. But after six months you can apply to raise the limit. I am just going to have to fill in their form and find out!
ps - no sign of this offer on their website - maybe it's only targeted at certain areas. The number on the form sent to me is 0800 952 5450.if i had known then what i know now0 -
Hi all,
Just started this card tarting thing, did ok with egg and MBNA but not with Barclays..I'm on the 0% BT for 1 year.
Just contacted them after receiving my card to get my balance limit paid into my own bank account, the guy told me they only do balance transfers to pay off an overdraft!? Asked him how i could get the money paid into my account and he said i couldn't... bit confused, can anyone tell me how i can transfer this money from Barclays to my account without incurring any penalties/fees please.
Thought about just using the cashpoint but they charge 2% on every withdrawl.
Thanks0 -
I received my Liverpool & Victoria statement this morning. They are offering 0% on all balances transferred for six months. The offer is available until February 1 2005.0

As regards transferring money into a bank account, Egg and MBNA are the exception rather than the rule.
Most card companies will only transfer balances to/from other cards.
You'll need to do the transfer via your Egg card - ie ask Barclaycard to 'pay' Egg and then get Egg to credit your bank account.0 -

And withdrawals are not balance transfers. As I keep saying, this requires an eye for detail and timing, if you don't put that much into it then you can easily trip up and pay even more than you make.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that at about 9 o clock this evening i got a call from MBNA regarding my new platinum 0% 9 month jobby. ;D
He asked if i wanted to transfer the balance so i said i'd like to transfer £4400 into my current account.
He DID say there would be an admin fee 'capped' at £35 and even though id read this thread i argued with him till i was blue in the face. >:( >:( >:( I could NOT get out of paying this fee (which will come out with my first repayment).
So its just a word of warning really.
Anyway - i'l be plonking this money into a decent Savings Account -probably ING.
Once again - thanks for all the advice

Just watch the dates on transfer offers. I applied for an Egg card on 31 August which had 0% until 1.2.05. The next day they changed the offer to 1.5.05 - another 3 months - but because I had applied before this offer I was not able to change it. Needless to say, I cancelled the account and the card and went elsewhere! I've now got 0% for 9 months and hopefully 2 free watches as well!0

>:( Just a note of caution for those who are unaware, i,ve just been charged interest on a 'balance transfer' by mint, this is after being alerted by martin about the need to emphasise this was a 'balance transfer' and not a 'money transfer' from my overdraft to the card. I had a long discussion with the man from mint who said that if i'd used the cheques that are sent with the card then it would have been a 'balance transfer'. Now i will have to move the debt as this will accrue interest until the whole balance is clear! Isn't it marvellous that in these technologically advanced times where everything is supposed to be easier, that you can't use the telephone to 'b.t' unless you are to be charged interest! Incidentally i did clarify this a couple of times on the phone with the customer service person!!!!!!0
