Credit Card Balance Transfer Discussion Area 2

I have an egg card that needs to be paid off by 1st of Oct.
I have a mint card maxed out and a barclaycard maxed out.
I applied for a virgin card and was turned down, due to the fact that I do not have much of a credit history as only had 1st cc in my own name as of march time.
So where do I go now for a balance transfer?
All monies from these cards are in cahoot, egg account and isa,so I am not panicking as I can obviously pay it off, but would like another card to transfer it to.
Any ideas would be helpful.
Many Thanks0 -
Easy tiger 4 applicatons since March and 1 turned down, it's going to cripple your credit score if you're not careful. The trick is to try and avoid being greedy. Most things in life are easy it's just doing them well that's difficult !!!!!!!!!!0

Its a bit late for advise like that.
I wonder how long I will have to wait before I can get an mbna card should I wait 6 months before applying again?0 -
Angela,
Have you asked the lender why you were refused? if they say because you have too many cards then sometimes the plea of "I was going to transfer everything to your card and cancel xxx card" will be enough to get then to revise their decision. Of course they may simply say "because of your credit history" and at that point it is best to be able to say something like "well I have my files from Equifax and Experian in front of me now and I can't see anything bad in them". This is also assuming you don't have anything bad in them - have you checked. Mistakes can be made and (in general) can be rectified quite quickly.0 -

It says on the letter
At present,it is felt that because all of your credit references are relatively new, there is insufficient credit history on which to base an approved decision.
My plan, and I put this on the application was to transfer mint and egg as mint runs out in dec so thought I would try to lump the two together as mbna usually give a good credit limit.
Do you think it is worth a phone call,or as I had already put this on the application about the two transfers there is no point?
I have not checked my credit history as apart from these 3 cards from this year and a mortgage for 16 years I have never had any credit, always paid mortgage etc etc.0 -
What harm could it do? You may not get anywhere but why not try?0

Hi there
I'm in need of some faily urgent advice.
I am one of the people that took advantage of the Mint card offer sometime back, and my 0% period is due to end on 1/10/04. I applied for the Barclaycard offer (before it expired) but all this time later, when I went into my bank, I discovered it wasn't accepted (thanks for letting ME know that B'card!). Which means I am now left with v limited time to do a balance transfer to another card in time. Could anyone telling me which card would be my best option? I won't be spending on the card, I just want to do a balance transfer, and pay it off bit by bit throughout the 0% period.
Many thanks in advance x0 -

Re #200 by mediamonkey:Has anyone tried informing their current credit card supplier that they are about to transfer their balance, in order to see if the current provider will offer them 0% instead.
i.e. I have a co-op Visa card - they offer 0% on new balances. I'd like to stay with them but need to get 0% on my existing balance of £2k. If I tell them I'm transferring to Barclaycard might they drop my interest to 0% to keep me?
I would like to know if anyone has tried this as I too have a Co-op Visa card.
Of course I myself could ring them and ask, eh? ::)'Puritanism: the haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy'.
