You don't need to change your number just 'port' it across.

o2 payg offer 500 texts for £15 on text anytime

if most of the numbers you text are o2 numbers you can opt for either "o2 your numbers" you get 1000 sms/mins for £5 a month

    http://www.o2.co.uk/mobilestariffs/tariffs/paygo/paygoboltons0153/youro2numbers

or you can change your tariff to o2 unlimited which gives unlimited sms/mins to all o2 numbers for £15

Okay i'm with O2 and have a simplicity package with 1000 free txt, unlimited download (with reasonable usage clause) and looking for a cheaper way to txt New Zealand and still get my free txt for uk numbers.
I'm wanting to send at least 300 - 500 txt a month there. which of these sites is really a viable option. i'm not wanting to sign up to any of them till i'm sure i'm not just throwing money at a gimmick, which is what some of these sound like.

NB I've got a vario II handset, though its O2 I'm with I think it is able to cope with Java, it definitely has net and i've used msn and various other things on it.

You can download an application to your phone that allows you to send really cheap text messages.
I've used FishText.com for New Zealand and it works great, costs 1.3p per message. Not used it for Australia yet but it says it costs 1.3p aswell!
There are other services out there but i've found FishText to be the cheapest.
  • Going to the states soon and would like to sen around 10 txts per day back to the UK, do any of these free sites fit the bill?
