My god i totally fell for that last week! Had 2 "interviews" in one day, was invited back today to be "assessed" between 1 and 9 - I said to my boyfriend that I thought there was something fishy about it, and as such I have not went today.
When I remember the names of the companies I will post them.0 -
Well I came across this site whilst searching for a phone number for T.H. nationwide....i think i'm not gonna be getting that reference!!!!
The story seems to be the same as all the rest;
Got an unusualy quick callback,
Dodgy 1st interview
Even dodgier 2nd interview
and pumped full of bull ish all day everyday!!
The main thing that bothers me is the amount of bull ish that they feed the customers!! Surely it can be legal!!
I had done a job similar to this elsewhere but it was nothing like this, unstructered, unprofession and run by down right liars. TH is now run from the top floor of premier house, darlington street wolverhampton. Alan Mayer is his right hand man now, Lucas is there too and Shih Wah Tsang, everyday in the 'ego room' they take centre stage and try so so hard to get everybody amped up for the day of crap ahead. Alan is the biggest fool there he talks and talks and talks for so so long repeating himself (kinda like me!!)
I tried talking my greviances with them but of course "I'm wrong, naive and ignorant to 'the bigger picture'" which of course is in my best interest. If you spend 1-2 years out in the field you may just may become a 'manager' and that's their phoney title!!! COMMISSION ONLY- can be good...if they pay you...if the contract is legit...if its not TH nationwide!!!!
I ran the Red Cross project and was told everything to say and NOT to say but the day that killed it for me was me & Lucas out in the field and he blagged his way into the customer signing and did, pretty much EVERYTHING that we wasnt supposed to do!!!! Killer. So I quit
IF YOU HALF THE OPPORTUNITY QUIT AND NEVER LOOK BACK....HELL! DONT EVEN ATTEND THE INTERVIEW.
SCREW YOU TAI!!0 -
I'm not sure if these companys have been mentioned previously, but here are two to avoid in the Newcastle upon Tyne area:
Coulson Corporation - Operating from Carliol Square in Newcastle
Bandeira Marketing - Located in Middlesborough
My boyfriend has attended a first interview at both of these companys and was offered a second round interview imediately in both instances. He was offered one the very next day by the former, which he was informed would consist of a training day from 11am-9pm. The latter were no longer contactable at the number he was given when he attempted to call them back, though their website is still advertising positions vacant.
I'd avoid both like the plague, everything I have read in previous posts is true of his experience. These people are real timewasters, don't be conned.0 -
Thanks for this thread. I had an interview with EA Worldwide Accquisitions in London today. I understand why there is so little information on their website, about what they actually do! And why there is nothing about pay!0

Surely this line of the job advert would be grounds for taking action against them - as it makes no mention of 'OTE', etc?
I have to admit I fell for a company just like all the ones mentioned here - but that was about twenty years ago! It's depressing that similar firms are still presumabley making a living for their owners all this time on
All the things that other posters have described happened to me - but I was desperate (or stupid (or naive!)) enough to ignore any warning signs for about two weeks.
Strangely, the company I worked for then was based in the north west too (in Manchester)(as so many of the ones mantioned here are). I've been thinking about it, and I can't remember the company name - only that of the client we were selling on behalf of.
I wonder if there's any connection between these firms all these years apart?

Primius UK and Paramount Force were the ones in Manchester that I went to that sound suspiciously like all of the above.....0

WE ARE NUMBER ONE, WE ARE NUMBER ONE!!!!!!!!
Ring any bells? Ever see a mob of about 500 "grown men" chant this while wearing cheap suits? Let me tell you a little about my own experiences with organizations such as JPK....
I made the mistake of applying for and accepting a job offer from a clown outfit like JPK....actually, it was called Paramount, based in Manchester. Everything that jonboy69 says is absolutely true...but I would like to chat about 2 aspects of these organizations which now in hindsight are very amusing.
Yes, you go out and sell door-to-door, working all day in some very dodgy areas trying to sell things to people who either don't need or can't afford what you are offering. Yes, it is all 100% commission. But still, everyone you talk to in the organization tells you what their SALARY is. "I'm on 36 GRAND a year" they will tell you. RIGHT. They are basing this on the fact that they just got 6 grannies to sign up to a direct debit bill payment...and yes, if they were to do this EVERY SINGLE DAY for 365 days, they might get that amount of money...but these people never tell you about the times when they sell nothing, or about the amount of money they have to outlay on what they do.
They are mostly all broke, just repeating mantras to themselves and each other.
This brings up the second thing - the wierd, cult-like reinforcement tactics they use every day. In the morning, before you get the lists of where you will be going that day, you are made to a) repeat a list of "rules" of sales by heart, and b) practice your selling technique.
At the very end of the day, you all get into a circle, the stereo comes on, and a HUGE drum is placed in the middle. If you made a sale, you have to run around the circle, slapping everyone's hands and then bang the drum. If you are new, you get to do it as a boost. The group would regularly erupt into football style chanting, as a whole and in separate teams. Bizarre.
It gets better, though.
On my third day, we all went to a "conference" in Manchester where basically every crew in the UK that was part of the Paramount pyramid was there. Each crew would chant against each other, trying to outdo the others. This came to a climax inside the conference itself where about 500 or so idiots would go crazy, standing on the chairs and shouting like a bunch of gibbons on heat.
I sat through wave after wave of speakers, all basically saying the same thing in ever more sophisticated / clever ways, designed to reinforce their mantras for all kinds of people. Some used humour, others eloquence, others just basically said "look at the car parked outside - that's mine, aren't I clever?" Until we gor to the big cheese himself. A man who, supposedly, "invented" all this while on a gap year in Australia, and who is now, supposedly, a multi-millionaire. It was amazing to see the whole structure in one place, going from the scum like me, all the way to the top, and all of them greedily biting at the same piece of pie.
I quit the next day, and now I have a job which I love, and which actually gives me immense satisfaction. I'm not going to tell you how much I earn, because that would make me no better than those idiots at PAramount and JPK. The point is, my salary is secure, I have a pension, and am saving. So if you are reading this thread, and are thinking about going for one of these jobs - DONT.0 -
Just finished reading the various horror stories about unethical and unprofessional marketing companies. Its just as well I tend to do a little reseach and this forum has saved me a great deal of time. So I thank you all for the heads up..:T I wll not be arranging an "Interview" with Coulson or his cronies.0
