Even if I did work for a utility company I fail to see how it benefits them.

On the other hand, the sterling job you did for your employers by pushing Click 5 non-stop before the massive price rise must have earned you lots of commission. Two switches for all those people in a short length of time.

You see I've figured it out now. 1carminestocky works for a switching website. That's why he advocates switching as often as possible, even if not to the cheapest supplier. And why he derides capped or fixed deals at every opportunity. He's earning parasitic commission off the back of our utility bills.

Mech......deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth....nose....mouth...nose....mouth. Better?

A bit of 'deflection' going on here, perchance?

This is probably why BG are in such a sorry mess at the moment. I would estimate Mech is at the top end of the IQ scale in the call centre and he comes up with this? :rotfl:

Here's a question: If I worked for a switching website, err, why would I recommend people to use a CASHBACK site? Back to the spirograph for you, my friend (that retail price does looks mighty low to me. :p ) Graphs are your thing, not rational thought, it seems.

    Mech,

As I said before,it would so much simpler to just show the Retail Price. It would seem that you simply want to close the gap between the lines because it won't look so bad.

I can see what you are trying to do, to get back to a purchase of electricity cost after stripping out other costs. One of the points, is that since the abolition of Regulatory Accounts, such figures for each business segment are deliberately not revealed by the companies except at very high level.

Anyway,I think the graph for all its faults still shows that the recent hikes take the retail price way above the cost line. This is exactly what everyone intuitively knows and why the price needs to be reduced immediately before the damage is done over the winter period.

Well now you know how deranged you sound when you carry on like that then. Sad isn't it?

Isn't it more that you want to open up the gap so you can feel price drops are justified? It really doesn't matter how far up you push the lines, the gap between retail and wholesale will still be smaller now than in 2007. It would just be more difficult to judge the relationship. Which is precisely why I lined them up.

    Gas.

So look at older data. That's where the 24p came from in the first place. It really doesn't matter as long as you can read the relationship between the lines. I thought I had made it so easy by depicting it graphically, but no - I suppose the mind only sees what it already believes.

Are you serious? Look at the graph. Over the last 12 months the blue line has been pretty close to the green line. Compare with 2007. See the difference? Have the lines really been any further apart in the second half of this year than they were in the first half when British Gas posted a 4.34% profit? I don't think you can claim that they have.

We probably were being ripped off in 2007 I agree. I can't see that we are now. The margins are much smaller.

My definition of sad is somone who works for an energy company and attempts to defend them by 'doctoring' graphs. I think you've been found out, my friend, and your attack on me is an attempt at 'deflection'. I really hope your employer shows you as much blind loyalty when their good times come to an end next year.

PS You are starting to resemble that ridiculous apologist MrBlonde who appears to have disappeared after his last embarrassing outburst a few weeks ago (advised by his employer, maybe?). You're more inteliigent than that, Mech, so clam down and don't go down that path. Anyway, back to THAT graph...

Not sure what any of that had to do with gas and electricity but it did make me laugh!
