Thanks for the recipe Noah's Penniless Mummy, looking forward to trying them.
  • Some lovely plans this week. I'm tempted to have ago at the pasties myself.

A bit slow of the mark posting this week, but I have been sticking to my plan so far.

Mon HM chicken & leek pie (from freezer)
Tues Sweet potato, cauliflower & spinach curry (some stashed away in freezer for another time), rice & HM naan bread

Wed Chilli (batch from freezer) with potato wedges and melted cheese
Thur Jacket spuds with tuna & sweetcorn
Fri Take away pizza (once a month treat) :j

Sat Lasagne (batch from freezer) and HM garlic bread
Sun HM Cheese & red lentil loaf & roasties, veg
    GC May £178/£250 NSD
  • mmm your veggie curry sounds lovely fuzzyfelt. My menu for the week is:
Mon: HM lamb, spinach and chickpea curry (leftovers from Saturday)
Tues: simple pasta with tomatoes, onions, pepper and some left over cooked chicken from Sunday
Weds: chicken, roast potatoes and a HM salsa from toms and avocados (£1 for a bowl at the market!)
Thurs: HM frittata with chorizo (only need to use a little but you get a great flavour)
Fri: burger in a bun with fried onions

My menu planning usually runs Thurs - Thurs/Fri because I go to the supermarket on a Thursday so I haven't got as far as the weekend yet!
  • Just realised I didn't post this week - better get it in before the next thread starts :o

Sunday - Pot roast local beef with yorkshires, HG potatoes sweetcorn, beans, shallots, carrots; rhubarb pie, cream

Monday - HG chard and spinach quiche, HG salad

Tuesday - HM bean burgers (with HG carrot and courgette) in a HM roll with HG salad

Wednesday - beef curry, rice, HM chapatis, HG salad

Thursday - tuna pasta bake, HG salad

I made an iced cake, Nigella's chocolate cherry cupcakes, ginger fork biscuits, mince pies (with leftover pastry ;) ) and butterfly buns (DS's request :D ). DD has decided to have school lunches :j

See you later with this week's plan ;)

  • yum yum penelopey penguin. You menu looks delicious, especially all the cakes! ? I'm not allowed any goodies in the house as OH is on a 'healthy kick' but he can't resist temptation so everything sugary is banned!

Can you share your recipe for chard + spinach quiche? I've loads in the garden but afraid it's going to get zapped by frosts soon so be good to turn it into some meals for the freezer.

    thanks, msm

Same here, but for the kids lunches I've made muffins and frozen them. OH won't look in the freezer for food and won't wait for it to defrost so safe from him - and I can take one to work with me too :p

lol... oh dear, my OH is more determined than that. Had a M&S sticky toffy pudding from the £10 deal that I had stashed away *at the back* of freezer.

He found it on Sunday, pulled it out defrosted it without me realising. When I came to make Sunday dinner it was sitting there ready to be cooked!! He also eats raw frozen cookie dough. Any help for me - where can I hide stuff from his sugar radar!! He is really healthy until he knows there is something bad in the house then he has to eat it!!

Oh dear!! My OH never looks in freezer :o

Ok Other hiding places for me are: my baking cupboard (behind the flour etc), in the wok in the cupboard (he never uses that and it's big enough to hide biscuits in), inside the large saucepans in the cupboard, in the microwave (but he sometimes looks there so it's only safe for a short time), and finally:-

in the bottom of my wardrobe (he has a separate wardrobe)
    in my desk at work!!!

Can you hide them in the freezer in a non clear box marked "lentil stew" or something less likely to be opened? ;)

I think those cherry cakes would be safe from my OH though coz he doesn't really like cherries much - I love cherries so will be making them :D

I made it up, really :o Wholemeal pastry shell, baked blind. Soften a finely chopped onion in butter, add chopped spinach and chard and allow to wilt. Season with pepper and nutmeg. Add to the shell with beaten eggs, top with grated cheddar and bake.

I'm going to try it with ricotta next time ;)
