Update....
Cancelled SkyTV - Saving £21/month
Switched Gas & Elec to British Gas Click Energy 5
Hope to save £18/month but time will tell. Even if prices are hiked by 30% I will still be slightly better off than I am now.
One thing I noticed, my Gas usage is about average at 20,000 kw/h but my electric usage is up on 7500kw/h and BG site says average is about 3,300kw/h (all figures are per year). Anyone have any comments/suggestions on this?
Also made alternative arrangements to fund the internet payment each month so whilst not exactly saving the money I can cover it and reduce the outgoings on my SOA by £20.
Finally, I've been through the Home Insurance article and, subject to me checking my claims history, have found a much better deal.
Current Buildings and contents with Directline costing £30 month.
Quote from Esure comes in at £130 annually or £150 with Legal Cover.
Combine this with the £75 cb at Quidco and I'm quids in with a new policy effectively costing only £4.58/month or £6.25/month with Legal Cover. I am amazed! A saving of £24/month.
Question: I could have really used legal cover last year but my current home policy doesn't include it. Is it worth it for the £20 extra? Should I look for seperate cover? Would it be of any use to me if a creditor was to threaten me in the future? Comments appreciated.
Thanks all,
Dack
P.S. Forgot to mention I got £40 coming from Quidco for the utility switch :j0 -
I've had some replies about the IB situation. You can't reapply within six months of being turned down unless your condition has deteriorated or it's a new, different condition. So once the six months are up you can start again, I think. Really, you need proper face to face advice from DIAL or someone like that.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

simple. get off your backside and get a full time job + the wife. there is a job for everyone if you look for it.
sorry for being harsh or straight to the point but you cannot afford the way your living. £600 a year on car insurance is high. try compare the market.com.0 -

I'm sorry but I just don't think that's helpful. If someone has health problems that mean working will make their condition work then they should be careful about what work they do. I'm sure his family would prefer him to not work and struggle financially than end up seriously ill or worse.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Hi there,
I have been reading your thread. As a fellow debt sufferer I contacted the CCCS as my debt gave me depression! I can honestly say it was the best thing I ever did.
I have had a CCCS agreement since December 2005 and rarely do I get any hassle from my debtors as they are getting paid a regular montly amount. The CCCS at no time judged me and all advice was helpful and friendly. Even when your plan is in action you are free to call for further advice at any time. Because of their help I longer dread the phone ringing or the postman.
I do not know how/if they deal with people on benefites as I am lucky enough to work full time but it is certainly worth a (free) phone call to find out.....

I see both sides of this but he is just looking for advice. No one likes to owe money but it is easy to get caught in a situation where you are better off finacially not working (and no I do not claim benefits but work full time and look after children!)
I understand that getting a job is the best long term option but the short term problem (so to speak) is finding the best way to deal with the situation he is already in.....:oWins in 2009: 2 Lipsticks, personalised kids CD and Lewis series 3 on DVD.
