I've had a horrible horrible day

Placed my order last night, £424 + 6 money makers YAY all excited! Had a voicemail today whilst at work saying my order was missing so called OH to get my order number off the website and called them back. I was then told they were holding my order as the amount I'd ordered was too much and I'd need to pay half up front. I asked why and they said I'd gone over my credit limit. Only 2 weeks ago my ASM told me I needn't worry unless my order came in at £1000. I then text my ASM who called me when I finished work to say she might be able to get Half my order to me now then when I've paid for that I'd get the other half

By the time I got home I was in tears, I've worked hard getting orders and if I let people down now they won't order of me again! OH managed to calm me down and called his Dad who agreed to lend me £220 to pay towards it so they'd release my order. Called Avon to check they would release my order for Friday if I pay £220 tomorrow and they said I need to pay £305   Tears all over again!!!

Luckily OH called his dad back and he's kindly agreed to lend me it but I've only just calmed down now (if I'd written this an hour ago there would've been swearing thoughout!). Just hope I still get my order by Friday. ASM said as long as I pay by 4pm tomorrow then I will but I'm finding it hard to believe anything she says anymore!

    :grouphug:
Muchos badness melvis. At least you've got it sorted, and you know you'll be able to pay OH's dad back. If you're unsure about ASM phone up Avon as well just to make sure (which I'm sure you'll do anyway!). Here's hoping the next one will be better.
On the plus side, remember you've done fantastically well!
    :)

Oh mel!! What a terrible day! I didn't realise this was your first campaign, feel like we have been chatting much longer than that!

I'm so sorry that you had to go through that! You should have been told your credit limit, sounds like your asm was being lazy and now that has cost you. I hope it all works out, sending you hugs :grouphug:

It's my second campaign! That's what makes it so annoying

aww melvis thats just awful, flipping awful. i dont know why they put credit limits on people, after all we are selling their stuff, the books and orders dont deliver themselves!!
  • Can anyone help me ASAP??

Just putting my order through on the new site and want to order some more order forms.

The old code 87197 doesnt seem to be working and Ive been through all the stationery bit and cant find what I need?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Just an update on this. I've just added order forms to my saved order and it seems to have taken the number OK  I couldn't find it under stationery either, which makes it very confusing! You just need to enter it on the main order page.

On the whole, I think the new website is quite good, although it is a bit fiddly to use.....not enough 'to view' at any one time and the print is quite small. I like the stock indicators which come up a couple of days before the order is due to be submitted, although I wouldn't panic if you get loads of 'low stock' indicators - all of mine arrived OK. I also like the 'view subtotal' facility, albeit it nearly gave me a heart attack earlier as it doesn't seem to show the commission at this stage  (I guess it waits till you've passed the 25% mark). Can't find the letters page; has that disappeared, or am I looking in the wrong place?

I just got an invite to a montly meeting run by my asm and she said someone from avon marketing will be there to show us christmas stuff and we will get a free gift for participating - sounds like what you did kerrie?

    Kat x

Yep, exactly what we had! They just get a little group of you together and record you on a dictaphone while they show you different layouts for brochures and ask what you think of the magazine spines etc. Then they show you lots of different order form styles - some of them looked great, although I wasn't too impressed at the 'print your own colour spread' one - the cheek of it! They also asked how we thought the credit crunch would affect us, and if there was anything else about Avon we'd like to raise - I said about mailplan O suffering in the new year because of clearance, the cost of Avon SL websites being too high at about £95 per year, and I also asked whose bright idea it was to have mailplan O submitting orders on xmas day then getting deliveries on new years eve. They didn't know but they promised to find whoever it was and play my rant back at them :rotfl:

Like I said, a rant and a bottle of Bond Girl, what a great deal! And one of the blokes is seriously sexy. I'd definitely go if I were you ;)

    Melvis, huge hugs :grouphug:
Avon can be s***s, one of my girls has had the same thing, her order should have arrived today and didn't, another I noticed on my screen had had her order held so luckily we caught it early enough to do something.
Avon do impose credit limits for a reason, if you see how much money they lose from peoples first few orders you'd faint, but they should COMMUNICATE them to people - before they place an order AND if the order is held. They don't bother though  although your ASM should have picked it up sooner. They get a screen telling them which orders have been held, and also they can easily find out what yur credit limit is and should tell you. In my opinion this is really arbitrary, it is based mainly on your age and postcode and how long you've had your bank account. She really should have told you and I feel rotton on your behalf that you've had to go through this because nobody took the time to do a simple thing.

Your Dad sounds like a star, give him a hug from all of us, but please, Mel, don't chuck it in because of one humungus flip up. You're better than that and the good thing is that credit limits do pretty much go away after your first one or two orders. And anyway, we'd miss you too much :) This is a crappy situation, but once it's dealt with it's gone. :grouphug:

Don't want to alarm you, but if you're on mailplan O I have been told 10am to get the order unheld or it won't be delivered on time  They won't take visa debit over the phone  isn't it great to have a system that works so well? pay it online then PHONE them and tell them you've paid and ask them to un-hold your order then phone back in half an hour to make sure they've actually done it.
But don't take that as gospel - I'm only an SL, not an ASM. There may be a later deadline I don't know about. Like, I tell my girls 5pm Monday, but actually into the evening and all day Tuesday would be okay really, but that extra day or so is my 'panic space' to get stuff like this sorted in good time. Maybe they have a built in 'panic space' too.

For reference, and assuming that account is well managed and paid on time, I'm told that credit limits work like this:
First order limits are done by 'credit scoring' (ie arbitrary decisions)
Second order limit is usually about twice the first order or £800, whichevers lower.
Third order limit is usually second order limit doubled.
After that you credit limit is usually three times your average order.
Eventually it becomes three times your biggest ever order.

All limits are set on a 'you pay' basis not a 'cat price' basis. If you go over, a proper credit reference will be taken. You will then be asked to make a payment - sometimes part of an order, sometimes the full amount upfront

Not sad in the slightest. I love delivery days and luckily don't have to wait too much - my delivery comes really early. It's like Santa comes every three weeks! :santa2:

I said about mailplan O suffering in the new year because of clearance, the cost of Avon SL websites being too high at about £95 per year,

You have to pay £95 to have a SL website? I've already created mine in preparation, was planning to host it with a company that charges £20 a year for hosting with no adverts.
What does the £95 pay for?
    :)

Unfortunately its a case of the few ruining it for the rest of us, to many people have joined avon made a huge first order then never paid their bill so they've kept the customers money for themselves! The time people are most likely to do this is their first few orders so you can kind of see it from Avon's point of view really :(

Annoying for those of us that are honest, but this way avon limits how much money they lose if people do keep the money or order stuff they keep and never pay for! I have a rep at the mo who is in debt to avon and is ignoring my phone calls :(

    xx

Avon sales leader personal websites are still free at the moment even though they say they are £5 a month they aren't yet won't be for some time I don't think, I've had mine for couple months and never been charged :)

As for getting a website with someone else beware as you have to be careful of the wording, if you use 'Avon' as ne of your search words on it or avon in the title Avon's changed the rules and they will shut you down. You have to get non oficial avon websites approved by Avon. The ones you see with avon in the title at the mo are old ones set up before the new rules and will eventually have to change I think. :( x
