  • lyndsey I work full time Mon-Fri 8am-5.00pm. I tend to deliver or collect my cats straight after work. I often think it would be better to go later in the evening, but once I am at home I like to relax, especially after dinner. So I normally come home and grab my stuff and go. I was given 180 houses to begin with but have asked for more so have been given another 180. I have managed to whittle down my initial territory to about 100 houses and this will get lower no doubt, over the next few campaigns. I have no idea how I will manage my new territory just now, but I am trying to work out a schedule at the moment. I also regularly deliver and collect cats on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

I have been delivering my orders on the weekend or in the evening (about 7pm-8pm) as I find that is the best time to catch people in.

I was going to give myself a week off from Avon when I place my order, but I think I need to break this new territory so may concentrate on them only for that week, or at least try and get half of it covered.

I must admit that it is not as easy to fit all this in as I first thought:rolleyes: but the extra money will come in handy.

    What does everyone else do?

I need some kind of schedule as I feel a bit all over the place! I do mine as soon as I get in - about 6:30-7pm once I have sorted all the cats and notes out, I don't have that big a territory at the mo, so do about 20-30 houses, one camp one day, next day other camp, collect, collect. Sometimes if I'm feeling fit and healthy and want to make money I may deliver twice, both camps, but get paranoid about people seeing me wandering up and down the streets!!
Also, does anyone else have this problem - I tell people to leave their books out, then put a note in when they're not in/no answer asking them to leave the next day, they don't. But a few days later as I'm walking past, there it is on their doorstep!! I can't keep walking up and down streets on the off chance someone has left their brochure out!!!

    sounds good fun
One spendaholic born every minute!
  • lyndsey that happens all the time with me. I don't bother going back every other day if they haven't left it out for me. If it's there the next time I am down that way fine, but I give them a note and go back when I say I will, but after that I don't try too hard. If they have an order and it hasn't been collected, they have my phone number. I defintely need a schedule too. I am trying to minimise the amount of time it takes me to get my cats ready, but with writing details on the order forms, cats, putting in my slip and writing out day of collection for the bag, it does take a lot longer than it should. I now have a date stamp so am going to use that next camp

    Hi everyone

I'm just about to (hopefully!) emabark on selling Avon locally.

However, I also work full time and have to declare an Outside Interest to my employer (a law firm) to ensure there aren't any conflicts of interest.

Can someone tell me what your employment status is as a representative - are you self employed or an employee?

There is someone coming round to me tonight to explain it all and 'sign me up', but I would like to have some information first.

    Thanks in advance

  • Whitters03 - You are a self employed representative when you sign up with Avon, you are therefore responsible for your own declarations to the Inland Revenue. I couldn't imagine your firm would have a problem with you doing Avon, but you never know what loopholes might be found so better to get it checked out. Any other questions just ask;)

Are you recanvassing the customers that didn't order in C8? Do you have a tick box for the customer to say whether or not they are interested? I have a territory of about 180 houses too, but only 15 or so customers ordered from there in C8, in C9 I gave cats to all the customers that didn't order in C8 but were happy to receive a catalogue (tick box). I now must have about 10 or so new customers that didn't order last time. I probably have to deliver over 100 cats each campaign.

If you are doing this, then you must just have a crap territory and I would be asking for more roads.

lol Summer, I have been recanvassing all my territory since C7, I don't offer the same areas the next book, I will skip to C9, and give new streets c8, i offer tick box to all, and only 3 people have either ticked or left me a note saying they don't want it anymore.

most don't even tick yes or no, so just give them one anyway.

To be honest C10 has been the best book so far I think, cheaper than the others so hoping some may have read previous books and will see price difference.

I think rubbish territory and have asked for new areas but my SL has left area... LOL.

I had to go and collect my avon delivery from the next street where there is another avon rep, wanted to ask her about her terrritory and how she finds it but she must have been busy as just shut door on me.
  • That's a shame, I hate to think that you aren't getting anything out of this. It can be quite time consuming and it certainly wouldn't be worth it to do it for nothing. Can you not contact an area manager? Surely it is in their best interest to get you earning? What about offering a discount to those that do order over a certain amount? You are probably doing stuff like this anyway!

I am only on my second campaign but I think I have been quite lucky, my territory seems to be quite open to Avon and I managed to secure another patch too. So I haven't had to use a lot of incentives. I offered a free gift for orders over £20 last campaign, but I thought the watch was such a good offer this campaign, offered a free gift to those that spent over £30. Didn't think I would get many orders over that, but I have had 4!!!

I noticed in Campaign 13 they are offering the loyalty scheme, and I think this would be quite popular. Maybe something like that would entice your customers?

I really wish I could suggest something else, but it sounds like you are doing your best with a bad lot.

I think I had 3 watches from 12 orders. Someone ordered the make up so I ordered one for a Christmas present, or in case they run low when I redo C10 in the 2nd half of my territory.
