  • So I went at lunch time (1pm) to my neighbours house to pick up my catalogue. It wasn't on the doorstep and she wasn't in. I am concerned about going to collect the rest at 4.30pm thinking they may not have left them out for me as maybe it's too early. What do you guys think? I didn't want to go and collect them at dinner time as don't want to have to disturb people (if they haven't left them out), plus I need to take them back home and redeliver the same evening. What sort of time do you all go back and collect? I did give them the cats on Monday afternoon so they have had 2 nights with them.

I would go at dinner time as it is there fault they never left them out not yours and that way you will be 100% sure they will be home when you call.
    Good luck hun x x x

  • Thanks Karen

I just made a trip to the post office where a woman I know buys Avon works. I told her I have started Avon and I decided to give her a catalogue with a few extra order forms if she wants to show it around. She normally buys through my colleagues work friend, but her daughter (also works with me) told me to just go in and give her a catalogue, she said first come first served and all that!
My colleagues friend who does Avon is way behind in campaigns as she is hasn't even handed in campaign 7 yet to my work and I have already handed out campaign 8. Anyway she seems eager to make a few purchases and have already got her interested in campaign 9 when I told her about the watch!

  • Forgot to ask, but it was never mentioned when I signed up about registering as self employed? Do I have to do this and if so how? I do work full time as a Medical Secretary and I have never had to register before.

    Thanks again;)

My C7 order is due in on Friday but it's very low this time as was my C6 order. Even my regulars at work aren't ordering much nowadays.

I think I will have to recanvass my territory sometime soon and stand the extra expense for all the extra books I will need.

yip you do need to register, as it is a second income the tax rate is higher too. I don't have that problem as I am a sahm and I don't make anough to pay tax on so far my yearly income has been 1,200 odds.
you will need to check your overall income.

  • So I just went back to get my catalogues, out of 16 I got 10 back, 2 weren't in, but I'm beginning to think I missed a block of 4 as I didn't check 16 houses I don't think. LOL!

Anyway, out of 10 books I got one order for £10, so I think that is okay. However I collected a cat and in it was a note stating that she was an Avon rep herself and although she doesn't do this area, she knows there is someone else who does:mad: Now this really annoys me as I only just started out and I am reluctant to go out and put the cats back out if someone else has this area.

I called my SL and I know it's not her fault, so she said she would contact the Area Manager and see what's up. I will be really peeved if someone does do this area as I thought I might have been lucky as I got 180 houses right off the bat and it's my own street!

I have bagged up my cats again and am going out again anyway with the 10 cats I do have and see if I did indeed miss some houses when collecting. 4 houses are completely off the market though as the Avon rep that wrote the note provides for them. Will see what my SL says when she gets back to me.

yes you do, I work full-time too and it is really easy to register as self-employed! There is a special phone number on the government website, just ring up, and have your start date (day you signed up) and national insurance number to hand. Make sure you save ALL receipts for things you buy to do with Avon - bags, books, pens, paper, ink cartridges anything that you require to have in order to do your Avon. They offer free half-day courses at the tax office (once you've registered they will send you a letter telling you about them) which tell you about things you can put as costs, as you are working at home I think you can put down a percentage of your electric/gas bills etc but not been on the course yet so don't know too much about it. If you buy anything as freebies to give customers, samples, demo products make sure you note it on your invoices then you can also add that to your costs when you are doing your tax return.

Also, I presume you pay National Insurance through your other job? In which case you will be sent a form that means you can exempt yourself from paying NI on your Avon earnings - there's no point paying it twice as there is no extra benefit to yourself! You have to earn less than £5K (can't remember the exact figure) - but obviously that is profit after all costs have been deducted so I doubt you'll earn over that!

Right, I've got 80 books to collect tomorrow and 30 on Friday, all from houses who haven't either had a book before or ordered before so fingers crossed for those, got about 5 books still to get back from regulars too. Order day on Monday so hoping I can double my orders by then :rotfl: wishful thinking :rotfl:
