not looked of an average amount that people have spent but loads have spent £20 or more.you certainly have to sell a hell of a lot of stuff to make any money cos there's books/samples etc to buy.i've got 86 houses and i've crossed loads off cos people have told me they don't want more books.i've got 2 like cul de sacs which just had elderly/retired people in who defo don't want-but they DO give books back.i've got 24 to collect tonite and those are many older people so i'll be interested if i get orders.
  • I'm glad that helped Echo and I hope you manage to get your account number through soon.

I've just sent off my email for the free samples for extra customers! :D

How long do you all leave your brochures with your customers? I've found that a couple of days doesn't give them enough of a chance to have a look. I'm now leaving them for 3 to 4 days. It's also worth thinking about whether you leave the brochure with your customers over the weekend. My next door neighbour works long hours and she says she can sit at the weekend and look at the brochure properly. I'm kind of thinking this is a good idea!
Thank you so much to everyone who post & help with comps! :j

i put them out for 2 days but quite often have to go back-which isn't a problem cos the houses are nearby.a few times i've left a book out for longer in fact 2 books have been out a week.there are those who don't get a chance to read through and a few women on my round work 12 hour shifts.it IS annoying when people ignore the sticker to leave the book outside-even when i've knocked AND put a note through.last nite i was out collecting stragglers ( the ones that are impossible to collect).the other day i asked in my bank if they wanted a book, local shops and even the fire station ( didn't even see any guys either  ).my local leisure centre has taken one which i'm not collecting till Monday.i hate collecting books at teatime cos if i go out at say just after 6 most people aren't in and it gets dark so quickly it's almost impossible to see the door numbers in a few places.cos of this i put the books out the next morning-not ideal but easier for me as one of the streets is totally weird with houses/house numbers all over the place.

how does the free samples for extra customers work? i haven't a clue.i know i'm ordering some perfume/aftershave samples but dunno about freebies.

:rotfl: Your area must be related to the town I live in. It's often said that our numbers were decided with a bingo machine, or maybe just dropped from an aircraft :D . I've been doing my main area for 18 months now and still have to stop and think about the numbers - there is one path in the middle which suddenly has the numbers running the opposite way to all the others!

I leave my brochures Monday-Thursday, or Tuesday-Friday. I tried running over a weekend, but found that by Monday everyone had forgotten them!

collected 18 books earlier ( still half a dozen to get) and got 1 order for £25.out of the 86 houses there are loads that don't want books again-not one order from the old folk.you should see my calling book it's absolutely atrocious there are numbers everywhere.at the start of this road we have no 29-15 then across the way it starts with number 108 i think and ends at no 100 ( there is no actual road in between).that's just the start and we have a couple of cul de sacs in amongst the normal houses.it's really like a maze.orders upto £204.40 now with 14 people ordering and i've asked my SL to get more houses for me but knowing my ASM she'll be reluctant to do so and give me more crap areas.i'd like to know how many of our ASM's aren't worth bothering with.maybe somebody could start a poll!
  • Just wondering how big an area is that an ASM will cover?

If the old people are putting the book out for you - I'd definately keep giving them a book for the next couple of campaigns, as I did this and got a few more customers. I think perhaps they are more wary of who they buy from, and want to check that you will definately collect the book on the day you say, and that you bother coming around again with another one!

i did come across a woman last nite who loves the advance techniques shampoo/conditioner.and hadn't bought any for ages.she told me a woman across the way loved it to and i hadn't got round to putting a book through her door yet so word of mouth in some situations is brill.seriously most of them don't want it-they live in flats/houses with intercoms/ramps and one woman was 90! it's good when it's sunny cos a lot of them sit outside

Well I have something like 6 customers over 80, so don't rule her out :D

If they sit outside, you're laughing - once you've chatted to them for a bit, they'll trust you more than a complete stranger putting a book through their door.
