I don't even know the people they were left with. I had a phone call from Avon this afternoon to say where my order had been left and it was at another reps house not too far away from me. They had the boxes piled up near their front door ready for me to collect. Also online it says I have 4 boxes but when I phoned Avon to tell them about all the missing items they asked how many boxes there was. There was 3 boxes with items in and 1 box of books so they said yes that is 4 boxes so is right. I don't know if it was significant but they asked which number the empty box was, so I said box 1 and they asked if there was an invoice in it, which there wasn't. I am supposed to be delivering my orders tomorrow night but Avon has said it will take a couple of days for the investigation and they will get back to me. So now I am going to have to explain to my customers what has happened. I hope this doesn't affect them ordering from me again. I have also called my am to get back to me asap as it is urgent. I don't know what to do now.
If it was left at another reps house then I would think it was Avon's fault rather than the person nicking the stuff out of the box - or at least I would hope you could trust another rep!
It all sounds very odd though, I'm sure your customers will understand, maybe you could just say that there has been a delay at the warehouse due to supply issues rather than explaining exactly what happened? As it isn't a lie, and might make them think it's because Avon is so popular rather than them being muppets and messing your order up!!!!
Hope it's all sorted soon for you.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

This is what I did when my order was held due to credit limit reasons ... I typed a small note saying there'd been a delay at the warehouse and I hope to have their order with them within the next 7 days but I would let them know if it would be longer. I can't see any of your customers having too much of a problem with it, most of mine forget when the order is due anyway :rotfl:Small business owner 🧵 Ex MSE comper 🏆 Student loan repayer 💴 Romanian dog rescuer 🐕 Hopefully a cost of living survivor 🤞🏻0 -
Thanks Lozza and Melvis.
I am going to make up some slips today saying there has been a delay at the warehouse with some of the items. Hopefully my customers will understand. I think the fault is with Avon itself as I don't think another rep would pinch stuff (or hope they wouldn't). I hope this is sorted out soon as I really want to make a go of it.0 -

I can't believe it. My order was delivered to someone else as I was out. We picked it up and brought it home. One of the boxes felt really light and guess what!!! It had nothing in it!!! Still sealed and everything. So I printed off my invoice as no invoices in any of the boxes and checked what was in the other boxes. Guess what??? There are 48 items missing!!!!! I have contacted Avon and they said they will do an investigation as the boxes are weighed before they leave. The sticker on the side of the box says 39 pcs but there is absolutely nothing in it, not even a piece of paper. How can this happen??? I am in total shock.
Aaargh! I have some idea how you're feeling, as I had a similar (although not quite as extreme) experience at the back end of last year. Just one of my boxes was almost empty but with 21 items missing, despite still being sealed  To Avon's credit, they didn't quibble about replacing the missing items, but there was all the hassle of having 2 delivery days instead of 1, and letting people know what had happened etc.
I hope it all gets sorted out soon.'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum

HI Ellibee
Is this a regular thing then?? Was it your first order too?? I hope they can sort it out soon. Just can't believe it has happened with my first order  . I also already have 4 orders to put in for my next order from different people so I hope they sort it out as I don't want to disappoint my customers. Do you think I can put out the stuff I actually did receive or should I wait until they have sorted it out??
Many thanks

Hi Ladies,
Hope you are all well. Just a question. What are we supposed to receive as newbies? I got cats wich was great, My SL gave me 40, also got order sheets and a calling book. But is there anything else? I thought we got more for the £15.00. I know that she is going to give me another set but do we not get anything else?
I kind of thought we would get a few of the paper bags and other bits? Or is that not the case?£2,000 by October 09 for Wedding got £500/£2,000Avon - C4=£170, C5=£194, C6=£119,C7=£60 (aim = £200, 60/200)0 -

Hi We get re-reimbursed 40 books in total for each new rep, most sales leaders will provide you with more books to get you started, these extra are paid for by us.
Anything else other than books and 2 packs of order forms and an Hello tomorrow book is courtesy of the SL.
I am in the process of putting a pack together which will be given out on the second visit. Just as a thankyou for signing up.0 -

I think once registered you can start paying installments in advance so you don't end up with a lump sum in January. These are usually based on previous years return so i don't know how they work out installments for first year. I think you can do it all online. I found the site quite easy to understand but then my return was very simple. www.hmrc.gov.uk. I'm not sure all avon reps register but i didnt want to take the risk, and it is little effort in comparison to the hassle it could cause by not.
I'm afraid there is a fine if you don't register as self employed within 3 months of your start date... £100! I found out the hard way too but managed to appeal on the grounds of low earnings.

It was about my 18th campaign actually! Previous to that I had only had about one occasion when anything was missing, other than OOS items, so it's not by any means a regular occurence.
The good thing is that there seems to be very little attempt on Avon's part to get out of supplying replacements - I'm sure they must investigate, but I got the stuff within about a week as promised. Mine was a box which was delivered direct to me, so there was no question of anyone outside of the supply chain having tampered with it. I'll bet the lady who took it in for you feels dreadful about it!!
I delivered what I had so that the majority of people didn't have to wait, but it was a bit of a nightmare trying to work out what was missing from each order. I ended up writing out 'back orders' for the missing items so that when they arrived it was just like a normal delivery. I did a little note to put in with the incomplete orders, explaining what had happened, and only charged for the items that were there. The missing ones were charged when they were eventually delivered. Of course, I did tell Avon that I wouldn't be making a payment until the delivery was complete, although with a first order, you may find it helps to pay for what you have and withhold the rest so as not to affect your next delivery.'Better to ask a silly question than to make a silly mistake' Elliebee's Mum

HI All
Have not long heard from my am. She contacted Avon and they said it was a shipping error!!! Some big shipping error!! How could they not know there was nothing in the box!!! Anyway they said they have already sent me a replacement of what was in the empty box which should be with me by the end of the week. Phew!! Had allsorts of things going round in my head as you can imagine. Anyway I can put out what I have received to customers so that's ok. Just hope I get all the 48 items missing as the empty box said 39 pcs. Got a feeling I will be contacting them again.
Ellibee - glad to hear it is not a regular occurence. I can imagine the nightmare you had trying to sort it all out. I don't think the lady who took it in knows about it as I never said anything to her as I didn't know until I got home. Her partner put the boxes in the car for me, which was really nice of him, so I didn't know about the very light box until taking them out of the car this end. Anyway hopefully it will all work out in the end as I really want to continue with Avon and make a success of it.0
