I've taken the plunge and decided to apply for more details and see if Avon is for me. I discussed it with my boyfriend and he said as long as I dont get carried away and wear myself out he'll support me 100%, great I said, you can come out with me then!
Good for you Liz3yy and good luck :beer:0 -

I had put out 24 and I got back 16. Had 6 orders that tot £60, also got £40 in orders from family, might have another £20 off my dad.
Didn't think that was too bad.
I have not got my account number but the only thing that I am worried about is I have not yet been told that I have a credit limit. Is hat normal? That you find out later. I mean can they accept me then not give me a credit limt? I dont have a great credit history. I do not have any CCJ's or missed payments on my credit cards, I just hve a cpl of credit crds and a loan. Am i worrying over nothing??

First of all well done on your orders :T and secondly I didn't get told about a credit limit either so I emailed Avon and they told me
"Please contact Avon directly on 0845 345 8444 and we will assist you further.
Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us."
Also I emailed them for my account number and they emailed it back to me. I hope this helps.0 -

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Just means you will have to go back and ask her to write another cheque but made out to you. All you can do is apologise.
At least she will know next time it happens. 0 -
OMG OMG OMG
I can't believe it. My order was delivered to someone else as I was out. We picked it up and brought it home. One of the boxes felt really light and guess what!!! It had nothing in it!!! Still sealed and everything. So I printed off my invoice as no invoices in any of the boxes and checked what was in the other boxes. Guess what??? There are 48 items missing!!!!! I have contacted Avon and they said they will do an investigation as the boxes are weighed before they leave. The sticker on the side of the box says 39 pcs but there is absolutely nothing in it, not even a piece of paper. How can this happen??? I am in total shock. :eek:0 -
Good grief that is odd, makes me think of a story I read once about a farmer who loaded up a pig for a journey to a slaughterhouse. Once he got there he discovered the pig had gone! They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson

My wife has been doing Avon since last summer, I've told her she needs to do a tax return but it seems to have gone in one ear and out the other so it looks like I'll have to sort it out! Should she have registered as self employed (cos I know she hasn't) or can she just declare the avon income as extra income on a normal tax return? Will any tax due have to paid immediately or can it be paid in installments? I'm worried there's gonna be a big tax bill to pay (will it also calculate extra National Insurance?) and she hasn't saved anything to pay the tax bill. Not happy it's got this late in the day and nothing has been done about it yet but she's never taken this seriously, I swear if it was up to her she'd just leave it (doesn't seem likely anyone would be any the wiser but it's not a risk worth taking surely!).
Oh and my wife has another full time job that she is taxed through PAYE for (in case that makes any difference?)0 -

If it was summer of 2008 you don't need to worry as the deadline for that year isn't until January next year.
It think meant to register as self employed within 3 months.
I think instalments can be set up. But depending on how much is earnt through avon and other income you may not owe anything and so its just a case of submitting the formLife isn't about waiting for the storm to pass,it's about learning to dance in the rain.0 -

Of course, this weeks deadline is for income earned in the tax year to the 5th April 2008 isn't it (is that right?). So any tax due on income she's earned since summer last year till April 5th this year will go on next years tax return (which can be paid in installments if it's done by October if I remember rightly?). Panic over then, still doesn't change the fact she needs to register as self employed though. Is she likely to be penalised for not having done that sooner?0
