  • They have changed the list of new routes now to reflect the new dates of starting but those that weren't cancelled were those which didn't start on 23 September.

    Malaga 06 Nov 08
    Billund 05 Nov 08
    Bournemouth 05 Nov 08
    Bratislava (Vienna) 05 Nov 08
    Krakow 18 Dec 08
    Lodz 08 Nov 08
    Stockholm (Skavsta) 05 Nov 08
    Palma Mallorca 23 Dec 08
    Poznañ 05 Nov 08
    Berlin (Schonefeld) 05 Nov 08
    Wroclaw 06 Nov 08

The flights now starting on 5/6th November (apart from Krakow) are the ones that were due to commence on 23 September

Bremen isnt on the list, so why was some flights cancelled?

I think they pull flights just because of poor takeup, happened to me last January, cancelled all flights on the Tues and Thurs, kept only Sat operating on my route.I now leave accomodation and car hire till as late as possible and have a plan B of flights just in case.

Well it's not Ryanirs fault. In convienient for you (and many others) but the fault lies with Boeing. As for trying to get 'the difference in cost' for your flights - forget it, you won't.

I really am very sorry for all the people this has affected, but it isn't a 'Ryanair ripoff' I hope you all manage to get your travel arrangements re-arranged.

Hmm, did anyone book with boeing? Did ryanair take these bookings on a provisional basis depending ont he supply of jets?

Or, did ryanair just take a booking? To say it's not ryanairs fault is like saying it's not curry's fault if they sell you a duff TV. It IS the sellers responsibility to ensire the product they sell is fit for purpose, and that applies even more in this case than in a retailer selling a TV.
If ryanair have contractec to buy jets from boeing and have then sold flights on the assumption of delivery without any guarantees being in place, then it is clearly ryanairs fault for sellign something they couold not be sure they could deliver.
it is clearly starting to seem that airlines see customers as some sort of option purchase scheme - i.e we'll fly it if there's enought demand or just cancel if not and give your money back, completely overlooking the issue that the flights with any other operator will have increased in cost. can consumers exercise the same option; i.e oops it's not financially viable for me anymore, can I pull out and get a refund? no?
  • I was notified of Edinburgh-Krakow flight cancellation (due to Boeing strike) on 9th September by e-mail and promised a refund within 7 working days. Still nothing. I have phoned 3 times (on a premium £1 a minute line) and consistently told 7 to 10 working days. Incredibly, they said that it was only by phoning up the first time (i.e 7 working days after getting the cancellation mail) that triggerred my refund request.

Has anyone affected by this Boeing strike cancellation actually had a refund?

I have received my refund but only after calling them. Apparantly an "automatic" refund with Ryanair will only be processed if you ask them to do it. I also got asked if I actually wanted a refund. My answer was "no, I would rather go on holiday as planned"!

I didn't call the £1 a min line though. I called the reservation line 08712460000 at 10p per min.

Hope this helps and you get your money back soon.
