Ryanair Cancelled Flights

Comments

  • I recieved a text on my mobile @12.15am saying my flight has been cancelled and to check my email, but I have not recieved an email.
I am flying to malaga with globespan but coming home with Ryanair. So it looks like I can go on holiday but not get home.
I have never been in this position before can anyone advise me if I can cancel my outbound flight and hotel and get my money back?
  • Just had my flights cancelled from Edi to Berlin also. Really annoyed as I have had to bok new flights from Edinburgh to Bremen instead with Ryanair and pay more money. Why did Ryanair at least not offer to transfer the flights to other Airports. Bremen is only 50km extra from my destination. I will also have costs to change the car hire etc. Do Ryanair not have any responsibility towards these costs? Does anyone have a contact number for them so I can at least try and get the difference in cost betweeen the flights refunded?

    Thanks for any advice.

Well it's not Ryanirs fault. In convienient for you (and many others) but the fault lies with Boeing. As for trying to get 'the difference in cost' for your flights - forget it, you won't.

I really am very sorry for all the people this has affected, but it isn't a 'Ryanair ripoff' I hope you all manage to get your travel arrangements re-arranged.

Have same problems with flights to Malaga from Edinburgh 3 flights booked on different dates for family members going to Nerja. My parents are in Nerja at the moment and got 3 text messages telling them to check their emails.

I am now trying to find alternative flights at a decent price which isn't proving easy as flights are for during the October school holidays. Prices with other airlines are very expensive but going to have to pay as don't want to disappoint my daughter who is looking forward to her holiday.

Ryanair are saying the cancellations are due to circumstances outwith their control so the not covered by the European Regulations. All anyone will get is the money they have paid refunded.

I understand it is not a Ryanair ripoff, however surely the decent thing would be to offer to transfer you onto another flight if it is suitable for you?
  • My flights from Edinburgh to Poznan and from Berlin to Edinburgh have been canceled. I have booked DB railway tickets from Warsaw to Berlin. But that tickets cannot be refunded.

This does not seem as straightforward to me as to thers. From the Ryanair website re these postponements/cancellations:

"Announcing the postponement today, Ryanair’s Deputy Chief Executive, Michael Cawley, said:

We sincerely regret the postponement of the opening of our Edinburgh base but unfortunately the two new aircraft, which we had reserved for this purpose, are now indefinitely delayed due to a strike by Boeing employees. However, due to increased aircraft availably in our fleet from early November we will be able to operate these exciting new Edinburgh routes from 5th November.

Passengers who were booked to travel on our new routes during this initial six week period will be refunded over the next seven days. We sincerely apologise to all our passengers for the inconvenience caused by this forced change to our schedule. However, we look forward to seeing our Edinburgh passengers on board our state of the art aircraft from 5th November”.

Ryanair routes affected by the postponement are:

    FORCED CANCELATIONS UNTIL 5th NOVEMBER

    FROM
    Edinburgh

    TO
    Lodz
    Malaga
    Bournemouth
    Palma
    Krakow
    Poznan
    Bratislava
    Schonefeld
    Billund
    Skavsta
    Wroclaw"

Now it maybe me, but, surely the problem with the delivery of TWO aircraft could not possibly cause the cancellation of all of these route? I know Ryainair sometimes like to think they are God, but surely even God could not operate even one return flight per day on all those routes with just TWO aircraft?

Furthermore, with many airlines cutting back on the number of routes and flights they operate I'm sure there are a number of aircraft avaialble to lease, even for a short period, if Ryainair really wanted to operate those routes?

I would suggest that there is more to this than Ryainair are disclosing. IMO they could easily operate these routes during the period they've cancelled if they wanted to. Clearly, for whatever reason, they do not.
  • I have to agree with headpin. I have just had my flight from Edinburgh to Berlin cancelled. I do not believe thar for around 11+ destinations they were only going to use 2 planes for all these journeys. To keep their customers happy i am sure they could have made a little more effort to either rent some planes or offer alternatives. I am very dissapointed as i had the chance to book other flights to other destinations which are no longer available or affordable so my Annual Leave is now going to be wasted sitting around with nothing to do. I do hope they give a full refund and not just the cost of the flights as it was the taxes which made up the bulk of the cost.
  • they aren't running all of these routes every day though as far as i can gather:confused:
