Yeah, i understand. I;ve read reviews and there are some promosing ones out there lauding it with praise. It is in fact capable of playing Crysis albeit on a low setting...not bad for a Netbook.

HWOEVER, as it doesn;t come with a CD rom drive id have to buy an external drive to accompany it and also increase the RAM to 4GB, which ive worked out will cost an additonal £100. SO i guess you're right, it ain't worth the hassle/cash.

A laptop eyy.. my only stipulation concerning a laptop is the size...it has to be under 13". Lugging a 15" block of granite for the past 4 years hasn't bin that pleasurable. Atleast 250GB+ hard disk space, 4GB RAM with the option to expand to 8GB (64bit win) and a minimum duel core with at least 256mb dedicated graphics card, oh and a webcam...is this possible for sub £300/£350?

I've seen ASUS UL30A on Ebay for 235 with 1 day to go. Though the intel graphics kinda makes me weary.

    argh, too much choiiice!!

does anyone have any knowledge of an appropriate 13" or lower laptop?

Why £100? If there is 2+1GB, you only have to replace one module. If you are running a 32 bit OS, there won't be much of a necessity to upgrade anyway.
So £30 for an external drive. If it fits your needs. Not really amazing value though, even though it's dropped in price by £20. Now £329

well i want 4GB. I presumed with itbeing small there wouldnt be an additonal memory slot to stick a 2GB with the other 2GB.
So removing the 2GB and replacing it wirth a 4GB will cost around £65. Then theres the external hard drive, bout £15.
yeah i agree, it isnt the best value and its becoming a struggle trying to find something that offer good value for money.

Your post is all over the place.

The machine comes with 3GB RAM, not 2GB.
External hard drive?? Weren't you writing of an external optical drive?
Your research seems a bit haphazard.

Here is the BIOS Update that claims to Patch LED panel blinking issue. Would be interesting to know if these machines had been updated on not.

I applied the update but it made no difference to my particular problem :(

Yeh I mean't an external optical drive :-)

To my knowledge, every system i've seen, has been 2GB. Could you direct me to where the 3GB system is?

    Cheers mate.

It's here, for £330. I thought that this was the one to which you referred in the first place.

Perhaps you saw a similar model elsewhere.

Donnie I know you are the laptop maestro but I am after a desktop for moderate game playing - is there anything you can recommend?

    Thanks
