Ok - apologies - I did jump to conclusions and because I hadnt heard of Lenovo I totally disregarded it and if I had taken the time to look great reviews on Argos. Cant wait to Thursday now until I go pick it up :-) Think picking a laptop / computer is one of the toughest things to do - so much baffling info - thats why I am not looking at anymore now decision made -
thanks for the help.
BTW, when you get it just PM your email address and I can email you a copy of the touchpad driver (or post the link here) that you'll need to use if you want to disable touchpad tapping (I have disabled it as I never use it). Also let me know if you'd like some software to use as a Caps Lock indicator and I'll post you the links to some free ones to use (as the laptop doesn't have a caps lock indicator itself).Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -

Thanks Aidai that very kind offer - but- I am not very computer literate - as you prob see above -lol-
What is touchpad driver - why would i want to disable touchpad typing ?? and whats caps lock indicator ?
the touchpad tap is when you actually tap the touchpad to achieve the left-mouse click effect (i.e instead of left-key click). it is usually enabled by default on most laptops but can easily be disabled if you don't want to use it. In this case it will require a simple driver installation after which you can disable the feature if you don't want it. As for the Caps lock indicator then this is normally a small light on the keyboard the lit up when the caps lock key is activated. Some laptops do not have this indicator on the keyboard (including the Lenovo) and there are free programs available to put an equivalent indicator on your screen to tell you that Caps are enabled. Simple things but important to those who use the keyboard quite a lot. Just post any questions here when you hopefully get yours and I'll be more than happy to help (there is nothing complicated there anyway).Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0 -
If I was rich I wouldn't care about money. Think I should be rich because I don't care about money now! :beer:0

Thanks or the links. The prices are more competitive than at the main Dell site but still seem to have jumped up in the last 6 months, in my opinion anyway.
Totally agree.
Recently trying to help someone find a new desktop, I checked prices, and found that I was nearly £100 out with my guestimate/guide I'd given off the top of my head.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
The best gaming laptop, right now, is the HP dv6-1299sa from microdirect. 345+VAT. Nothing remotely close within ~200GBP of the price. Not sure why. But look at the facts:
HP RENEW LAPTOP DV6-1299SA AMD ATHLON TURION RM-75 2.2GHZ 4GB 320GB 15.6" BT REMOTE VISTA HOME PREMIUM
Plus a ATI HD 4650! That is a good card. The current MSE best gaming laptop has a card at position #156 in the chart on notebookcheck of mobile graphics cards, this one is at#59.
Inexplicably cheap. Note this is an 'Artist Edition' laptop with a whirly design on the case so if you are only comfortable with matt black, it's not for you! Maybe all the people who were interested in that, bought a Mac instead.
It comes with Vista (Boo!...knew there had to be a drawback there somewhere) & a bunch of bundled artists software. Screen is only 1366x768 but that's good enough for gaming (& if you're like me you've a 20" LCD - this has VGA and HDMI ports for that)
I challenge you....find a better laptop for gaming.
I just ordered one.
UPDATE: As the helpful if somewhat brusque Donnie has pointed out, the "HP RENEW" part of the name means it's a refurb. Or potentially a refurb, a gamble anyway. Oddly enough this point was not otherwise made on the website, funny that.0 -

It's not a refurb, it's a new computer.
In what way is my post spam? A bit gushy, but then again I'd just spent 5 hours surfing the web and am truly impressed with the specs of the machine I'd found (HP Pavilion DV6-1299SA) which from that sole vendor is at a silly low price. I want to share the good news with you.
It's possibly I've offended some rule of the forums - if so please do me a favour and explain.
No connection with the vendor or manufacturer, so again, spam how?0 -

HP Quality products at reduced prices
The HP Renew Program offers you a comprehensive portfolio of completely remanufactured HP products at competitive and attractive prices. HP warranty is assured as all HP Renew products undergo the same rigorous process as for new products.
We are able to offer the very latest technology as more than 80% of the product portfolio is less than 12 months old. Products are sourced from returned demonstration / loaner equipment or factory excess. Some is also sourced from customer returns and trade-in programs.
Not only has this been 'pushed' on the HotDeals forum, but also here, before your almost identical "gushing" posts.
You had made two posts, both of them advertisements for this laptop.
Who describes a laptop at £345 + VAT??
The price is £410. It runs Vista and is old, refurbished stock.
It may suit some, but no need to spread SPAM.0
