toshiba arrived today from Argos outlet - it's an L750.
looks brand new - not a scratch - all set up just had to connect to wifi and away it went.
no instruction book - all online - but i'll work it out - hopefully.;)

only problem up to now is trying to get into instructions for excel which is already in the machine . keeps coming up with... oops something went wrong.

trying to find a free upload of excel now.....may have to buy it :(

Doesn't come with a full version of Excel, but probably Office 2010 Starter and a full install of Office 2010 that needs you to purchase a licence before it is functional.
This PC includes limited functionality versions of Microsoft ® Word and Excel with advertising. Purchase Microsoft ® Office 2010 to activate a full-featured suite preloaded on this PC.

That is standard on most new laptops today.

Some use the no cost Libre Office as an alternative.

What is the full model number of the laptop?

My OH also bought the Argos outlet computer and it is also the L750. You do have to watch the Argos outlet, he also bought a TV and it was a different model to what was in the description. Great no fuss returns though.

Agreed. Not great with descriptions, but they don't quibble if they get it wrong.
Do you know the full model number of the Toshiba? e.g. PSK***-*****EN

Thanks. It's not a serial number, just a model identification code. So nothing revealing.

    Toshiba Satellite L750-16L

Has built-in Bluetooth® 3.0 + HS too. A nice machine for the price.

Bought one for my mum. Just one left now.

Seem to be going through quite a few tracking links before you get through to the Lenovo website.

Why not just post the direct link?

Not meaning to rain on your parade; I don't really see the attraction anyway. £326 for a glorified Netbook?

Yep that is the one. My OH bought it for his parents and has been playing with it and loading the software they need. He is impressed for the price. The thing with computers these days is you don't know how long they are going to last (they all usually get through their 12 month warranty period, it would be nice if it didn't cost half the price of a new computer for a 3 year warranty).

I haven't had an asus previously. I am looking at this one on ebuyer for £349.
Will be used as my student daughter's laptop but this student is a bit heavy handed.

    Am open to other suggestions.
Needs to have webcam and hdmi and I can go a little higher in the price.

Have also looked at the Samsung RV520 on Amazon
and the Acer 5749 at Argos but as these are a little above the £350 - so didn't want to get complaints for including them!
    Thanks for any help/comments
