I'm thinking of buying DH a watch for his up comming birthday.

But my budget was about £300.

As their watches start at about £550, am I likely to get anything for £300 in the outlet store:confused:

Maybe just slightly underbudget Mrs E - I bought OH a tag aquaracer with a blue face for £375 plus £5 postage - still online on other sites at £750 so absolutely delighted with it. Must say the staff were really good over the phone - phoned at 3:10pm asked if they had this particular one - he asked me to go on google images and gave me the reference to clarify it was the right one - said he would get it in that evenings mail and sure enough postie was at door with it at 9:45 am the next morning :T
Fantastic service imo and one very happy oh !!

    yes and a Radley shop
    :j:j:j
  • Swindon McArthur Glenn is much much better for 'normal day to day' items!!!

Bicester is for the 'occasional luxury outfit' because there is a Monsoon, Jigsaw etc. Bicester has got a tacky French Connection shop which resembles something worse than a jumble sale with clothes all over the floor with rips etc in.

However, Swindon has Gap, M&S, Timberland, John Lewis Homestore and loads of others including Radley Bags, Next Clearance (even if it is like a jumble sale).

And there in lies the problem with this sort of question (as per OP), its all about your personal point of view, because I actually think Swindon Designer Outlet is pants and should be renamed due to trades description act to Swindon TAT warehouse :rotfl: , and I actually think that Bicester is actually rather good - providing you know what you want and want a premium brand for less than you would normally have to pay on the high street. (and I am a bloke and Swindon is much closer that Bicester !)

Net Net its all down to personal preferrences, go to both and make your own mind up. (Tip: dont go Bicester at weekends, best time is mid week - as imo they appear to have stock deliveries during the week, and by saturday afternoon any really good bargains are gone !)

Given numberous people on here have mentioned how Swindon is better, and not a million miles from Bicester Village, I'll just assume that your post can be equally applied to your own comment  ;) :money:

Now we live in London, I still go to Swindon, but usually only if I'm after something fairly specific - last time it was for large Samsonite hard suitcases - saved £90 per case on ones we had seen locally, I also picked up a Radley messenger bag from the Tula Shop (saving £45). The time before I got a lovely evening dress from Boss - saving £250. The time before that, I got a lovely diamond and platinum solitare from Goldsmiths saving £120. I also LOVE Artigiano, which has recently opened an Outlet at Swindon.

I usually always end up picking something up from M&S (usually PJs and undies), and have a mooch around John Lewis Home (if I were setting up home for the first time, this would probably be the first place I would come - the savings are amazing).

With the exception of Next (shudders), I find it hard to call Swindon "TAT" as you put it - the goods are cared for by sales assistants in a much better way that Bicester, where many of the shops are like jumble sales with filthy clothes that have clearly been around the floor a few times and are often ripped and clearly not suitable for sale...

your absolutely right - thats why if you read my post a little more carefully it suggests the OP go to both and make their own mind up .......;)

My point was that what one person considers great another may not -
  • I live in Swindon and I didn't know there was a John Lewis home shop @ the outlet? Just shows how much I go there lol

*makes note to visit there tomorrow*

    Thanks!
