Yes insurance will increase, yes you will lose a certain amount of no claims (unless they are protected) and yes you will have to pay excess but should be recoverable from the end claim. This is assuming he's insured?0 -

Pinky girl...calm down.....
There are a number of issues,
What action are the police taking with this guy? Presumably he has been required to produce his documents i.e driving licence, mot, insurance etc?
Also,he may be guilty of racial abuse but thats another story..Make a formal complaint of the racial/verbal abuse to the police and get a crime no.
Next thing, gather evident.
Write down exactly what happened to you NOW whilst its still fresh.
Get your witnesses to do exactly the same
See if the supermarket has video evidence they are prepared to share.
save/print out your photos..
Contact your insurance co immediately and make them aware of the full circumstances
Contact your local authority cab licencing office to report the matter.
your insurance co can take the necessary actions on your behalf to enforce and hopefully get compensation for the damage.
remember..keep cool..dont get mad,,get even.
You can obtain the vehicle keeper details from the DVLA if you demonstrate reasonable grounds for requesting the info (and pay a fee)0 -
its the one with dents in it! register claim with your insurerm and may be worth reporting as a failure to stop with the cops.. if a registered cab, also let the taxi firm and/or local authority know- they should be super hot on this type of thing.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Yes but if someone damages your car & a witness says it was a cab/taxi, you can't assume the first Skoda/Galaxy/other pop make is the same one that hit yours.
I was just puzzled as to why the OP started taking pics of that one?
I'm guessing the witness will have got the name of the taxi firm from the vehicle and lets hope there aren't many cars in that particular firm that have substantial damage0 -

Cab offices have to (by law) hold details of the drivers insurance/mots/licensing & NI numbers. They would loose their license having an uninsured driver.0 -

Its worthless. It wasnt independantly witnessed. He could easily have written and signed it himself ? In any case, are you going to let him off with it?0 -

I agree, however insurance documents are (i believe) easy enough to forge, he could have got the insurance, waited for the documents then cancelled within the cooling off period
Thats a worse case scenario of course
Plus this insurance company hardly sounds as though they are on the ball with anything if they don't take something like this seriously0 -
yes the police did say he will have to go to court and me on a failure to stopbrightonman123 wrote: »its the one with dents in it! register claim with your insurerm and may be worth reporting as a failure to stop with the cops.. if a registered cab, also let the taxi firm and/or local authority know- they should be super hot on this type of thing.0
