www.thememoryfoammattressfirm.co.uk TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

Options
I bought a memory mattress from The Memory Foam Mattress Firm on the 1st of Sept 2008. The website say's they have 24hr delivery but I'm still waiting 8 days later. I have tried phoning on several occasions but they never answer. I have also emailed several times but haven't had a reply.

Their website states that The Sale ends on the current day, every day. Isn't that illegal?

My personal experience hasn't been good. Wish I'd gone somewhere else.

There is another thread about this here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1038973&highlight=mattress

It appears that they may have ceased trading:confused:
  • I also bought a memory mattress from them about 2 weeks ago.It took a few days to arrive, but I took the cash on delivery option.
Never had too much of a problem phoning them though.
Does look illegal, everyday being the last day of sale.
  • Hands up who thinks kellybrook has something to do with the company... :T

Seems like some of you on here have nothing better to do with yourselves! It's quite sad really i think more people like me should find this website and leave something positive, but the people who are happy dont tend to search for these websites its only the unhappy customers who are trying to put this company down the happy ones get on with their lives. :rotfl: :T :j

Actually you are wrong. Many people come on here praising companies who provide good service. This is how I actually came across this forum, someone had posted praising my company, and my statistics program gave me the link to this forum.

I am actually quite open about the fact that I sell beds, but I don't come on here to advertise. instead I come on here to give people honest advice.
  • Tim, You may be just the man to answer a question for me.

My wife and i stayed at a cottage a few weeeks ago for a holiday. The bed gave us the best nights sleep ever.So much so we want one lol. The lady we rented the cottage off told us it was a Pocketmaster (TM) Poppy with 2400 springs and was supplied buy Dreams. They no longer stock the pooppy and have replaced it with the willow, are you aware of any of these manes? Also we understand Dreams have these beds made for them by a firm called Harrisons i think. Any help will be much appreciated.

Dreams and many other big chain stores have beds made for them, or re-named for them. The reason they do this is often a bit sneaky. The ones that are re-named mean that the stores can charge what they want, but still give a price promise because you can't buy them anywhere else. The beds that are made to the retailers spec are often made to appear the same as far higher spec beds. However they are often cheap immitations (have you noticed why many of the big chains put very little information about the spec on their web site?).

As for the number of springs. More than 800 pocket springs in a king size mattress is enough to do what pocket springs are designed to do. However if the mattress has too many springs they have to be so small to fit them all in the mattress that theyget damaged easily. I usually recommend between 1000 and 1800 springs.

Harrison are a good make, and I have only heard a couple of reliability problems with them. So if you really do want a Harrison mattress then it might be worth contacting them direct. Ask them for similar comfort to the Poppy, but with less springs. Also ask them who your local stockist is.
  • Wow Thanks very much for the swift and informative post.

Can you also tell me if having a "slatted" bed will harm/damage a matress as above? We have read different reports on this.We live in a cottage and cannot get a divan upstairs ,only a bed you can build once there lol.

    Thanks in advance.

Also do you have contact details for Harrisons please ?

Some retailers will tell you that you can use pocket sprung mattresses on slatted beds, but the truth is that for most pocket sprung mattresses you would need to modify the base by adding extra slats to close the gaps up to 1". If you use a 2 sided pocket sprung/memory foam mattress then you can have gaps of up to 3" because the memory foam on the bottom will spread the weight out over the slats.

  • As we like the bed we have can we simply get a large sheet of something like ply etc to lay over the slats or is a new bed in order?

Many thanks Tim.I will investigate and keep you posted.
