    Yep agree BaaB

    Income £2455, less £2334 = £121
Sounds like he has included CB while working out surplus, which would make it £397, not sure what the IPA % is on that?
    Tut tut!

Molly, this is the % table, 1st column surplus, 2nd column IPA amount, 3rd column IPA%. Unless there's something else on your I&E he has disallowed, to give you an initial IPA of £240 he must have had your surplus between £360-£370, he's now saying it's between £330-£340, to get to that figure he must have included CB.

Sorry but being stupid, but how do they work out the IPAs?

    They use this Calculator

But it seems to confuse people more unless you understand how it works
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(

erm... yes but I havent posted it yet......

I have to go for a short while but dont panic, you dont have to return it yet, but i dont really think you should on the face of whats posted in this thread.

I dont want to say im certain untill i can spend a bit more time going through it to make sure, but i dont believe you should have an IPA at all, or at least no where near that amount.

  • hmmm, if I've used the calculator right we should have 124.00 in the assessed monthly payment box..... does that mean we shouldn't pay one?

I added both wages, the CB and CTC in the income boxes. :/

    My heads spinning lol.

Thanks so much to you all for your replies, help and time.

Molly, that box is the amount of the IPA based on the figures you put in.
Have you missed something off, because with the figures you posted earlier there should be around £120 in the 'bankrupts disposable income' box, with 50% beneath it, and around £60 in the 'assessed monthly payment' box.

Did you put CB in the 'Monthly income - other sources' box?

  • You do not enter CB into that calculator anywhere MollyBear Hover your mouse over the little red triangle for instructions/notes

Can i ask is the CTC in your name, if so and if your OR did a separate sheet for each of you i get it to no IPA

  • I cant belive what the OR has done here, when I read the first post I thought to myself, hes cutting back allowances to make sure to get an IPA, reading on it seems thats the case.

I would seriously ring up the OR office and ask to speak to this ORs superior there not following there own rules there.
"Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

  • Ok I will try (and probably confuse you even more) to explain how an IPA SHOULD be calculated.

When you go bankrupt you do so as an individual so only your income and expenditure is counted in the calculations for an IPA for you and visa versa in your OH,s case

But if you’re married/in a partnership some or all expenditure (as in your case) is shared with your partner.

So you enter your income in full and Your OH,s contribution, now in your case that is all his too, but if only you had gone BR you could have just stated say 50% of his, if it balanced your I&E.

In the expenditure bit you list all shared expenses AND any that just you pay (doesn’t apply as all yours is shared)

That in your case gives you no surplus obviously, but if you swap it round to asses your OH as long as the CTC are classed as your income, as in they are in your name, then your OH doesn’t have a surplus either.

The only way to get a surplus is to join all income together and enter it as a whole, now while it may seem obvious to do that, it is incorrect as you should be assessed separately.

    Did that make any sense?
