My report for the day...
To put you in the picture, last year we swapped round our spare room and study, so that the study's now in the smaller of the 2 rooms. The study got all set up lovely with new decor, furniture, laptop, printer etc and since then I've been pretty good at keeping it nice and tidy. It's also the through route to the conservatory so that gives the incentive to keep it tidy too.
I'm a believer in everything having its place and really good at putting things back in their place once that's been designated (and yes I confess to the OCD tendencies mentioned by others on here - great to see some kindred spirits!). Any time hubby says "where's my.....??? (fill in any one of a million blanks), if its got a place I can 99% of the time find it in its place (its been a labour of love teaching hubby the art of putting things back - he can manage it fine in his beloved garage, but not so much with the house, strange male phenomenon...
However, that all tends to fall apart a bit when things don't as yet have a designated place (or I just don't like the room and don't care to keep it tidy (aka our bedroom but that's a story for another day...).
Anyhoo, so this was now the problem with the other room in that after the swap round it then became a nothing room where everything and the dog (oh no hang on we don't have a dog) gets dumped. So I finally bit the bullet and decided it needed to get sorted out. The old desk that's been lying there since the swap-round last year has gone to recycling, junk has been binned and the sofa-bed finally unearthed from the mountain of rubbish lingering on it.
Happy to report its looking all lovely tonight. All clean and fresh and sparkly with lovely throw and cushions on the sofabed, a bookcase of books cleared out and taken to the charity shop and new ornaments and candles for the new units we bought. Candles are lit...
Unfortunately to shatter the illusion there is now a pile of junk in the livingroom blocking the front door. This is the stuff that still needs decisions made on it - can we be bothered to sell a 20-year-old computer on eBay???
So now I'm all demoralised that we have to tackle the living room tomorrow. Does anyone else feel like they just move "stuff" from one place to another in a never-ending cycle??MFW Challenge (Tgt Date Nov 07): ACHIEVED FEB 07!

You have summed me up completely. That is just how I feel right now. There are several piles of stuff around me from the kitchen etc which are not going back in there but need sorting.
I am slowly starting to get rid of stuff - this week - 10 items on ebay, 3 bags gone to charity shop and 2 bags to a friend. It just doesn't seem to get any better though even though we don't keep buying new stuff.
I'm going to soak my ffet now and do a bit of hand sewing. I've achieved very little today. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Amethystcash - welcome to my world. We now have one room full of carp! DH has just asked me to make some decisions on what to do with stuff in there but i'm too tired. I've told him to charity shop it if it's mine:eek:   !
Kazmeister krew - way to go!!!!! :T :T :T :T0 -
Amethyst - you better give the neighbours their pooch back then lol
and now you know why we fling boogie - it's 20 years old? Offer it on frrecycle or take it to the tipDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Yes - i can join that club. We haven't even got one room that is fully sorted before more junk gets shuffled - my bedroom is probably the best, but we have DS2 in there in the travel cot still and it is driving me bonkers!!!
Just catching up on here while eating my dinner. I'm just demolishing a big wadge of chocolate cake - my HM one which is so good!
It's been such a long day here. DH left for work at 7:15 this morning. He's gone to London for an overnighter, so all on my own all day today and tomorrow. It wasn't the most productive of days but not bad.- DS1 taken to nursery, bill paid and got an application pack for DS2 to start there, which i have just filled in while cooking dinner
- finished my library book
- watched a couple of hours stuff on the Tivo,
- paid DHs bonus and birthday cash in at bank
- taken books back to library and got some more out
- finished packing 2 boxes of baby clothes for loft, got them labelled and sealed and on landing
- used a hanging storage bag thing that work bought me for DS2 as a nappy storage bag for the back of the bathroom door, so instantly looking a good deal tidier without 2 packs of nappies on the floor
- picked DS1 up
- gave him snack
- bathed him
- all dailies to now done.
Will probably be back and forth in the breaks.
Almost forgot - tooti i would say the GTD - David Allen is the best for all round - i love it and just wish i could fully implement it. Check these hyperlinks out and see what you think, but i found he talked a lot of sense. In principle, i find it hard to keep it up though, but i still try to group jobs together - just less good at updating the lists regularly enough. I find it works quite well if i write one job on a post it note though, and then put it in the back of my diary, and then i can move it around to when i want to do it.
