If it's Vista then look at this link because it may have been something you've installed and if it is then there may be workarounds.

With Vista, when a significant change is made to the hardware, it will assume that you have tried to install it on another machine.
If this is not the case, simply call Microsoft who will advise you on how to proceed. They will probably give you a sequence of numbers to enter.
Don't panic. I don't have the number, but I'm sure someone here will.
If Microsoft can't help, HP will.0 -
