Do you think people would see things in a different light if the weather was better (irrespective of how things actual are) ?
With all this rubbish weather it's really getting to me now, and I can see tempers freying on the board at an increasing rate .... anyone suffering from SAD ??!!
I know this is a pretty useless post, but it stops me looking out the window!!

I think you're right Wym. Things are always better when the sun shines. I was in Manchester yesterday and when I set off on the train it was pouring with rain and grey. I was dreading Manchester in the wet, but when I arrived the sun came out and it got very warm. There was a wedding at the Midland Hotel - kilts and everything - and they all looked really happy and bladdered on bubbly! I went to a wine tasting and that coupled with the sun made me feel most unconcerned about house prices and credit crunches.
Drawer the curtains and put the fire on if it's raining Wym.0 -
i suffer from sad. i have to spend a lot of the winter in the canery islands as i just cannot hack being in this country all winter..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Yes. I think your right and also the credit crunch doesn't help. As I tend to think there isn't a lot you can do in the rain, outwith the home with kids when pouring down but when the sun comes out there are lts of things you can enjoy for free. Also you are more likely to meet cheerier souls in the sunshine.:rotfl:Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

I love the rain, I prefer the winter to the summer, bu they need each other to really be appreciated (like you can't realise how lucky you are till you've been unlucky). Much as I love crisp frosty mornings and a rainy day when you don't have to be outside, I'm fed up of being saked to the skin after doing the horses and the field in the mornings and evenings and I'm very worried about how the ground will stand up to winter.
This does indeed add to my general feeling of unease, and does, in fact directly influence the way I feel about my urrent living situation etc etc.

It certainly worries me. Given the reports about the Pitt review on flooding which Ive now read most of, this certainly worries me quite a bit, and if we were in a position to think about buying it would certainly influence WHERE.
Anecdotal. I worked for a EA for a few months last year. the vendor was selling a riverside apartment in londons docklands, vendor had been there 18 months. Searches came back and flood risk of the property was now high. Vendor outraged- "it was fine 18 months ago- do the searches again there must be something wrong" er there wasnt, its just that geographic conditions ghad changed. IFAICR the buyer steamed ahead and bought with cash released from other investments- lender wouldnt lend. Interesting, and cant see this being an isolated case. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hi :hello:
I get SAD but not so badly the last couple of years. what I find interesting is that when the sun is out there is alot more road rage.
Hey Lynzpower where can I access this Pitt review?:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j0 -
Lets of reasons for sadness:
Clown still hanging on at No.10
Unfunded health care needs for boomers
English society in tatters, overrun by chavs and carnies
Russian militarism
Islamic Jihad funded by Saudi Arabia
Iran getting nuclear bomb
Global Overpopulation by some 4,000,000,000
End of peak oil
did I mention Clown still at No.10?
I pity anyone under 20, in their lifetime they'll likely see a nuclear war, civil war in England and a return to Dickensian squalor.0 -

Wow, I thought I had it bad, but you're really feeling it !!0 -
I'm sure I suffer from sad. I find I sit and wait for the sunny days before feeling able to leave the house, but once one comes, I need 2-3 of them before I do venture out... but this year there hasn't been 3 in a row, so I've not been out.
I'd go abroad where it's hot if I weren't such a wuss/worried about being abroad. I'd just not understand the rules and I need the rules to function.
Re flooding, I've always been aware of a property's height above sea level and the potential for flooding from the sea, from rivers or from above. It's one of my first considerations.0
