think "unlimited" means within acceptable use...hidden within their terms somewhereEx forum ambassador

If I remember correctly the unlimited data plan has a fair use policy of 200MB per month, which is generally fine for web browsing but simply no good at all for downloading of any magnitude. I am not sure what happens when you hit this cap, though.0

Nope - they changed it to unlimited (on pay monthly, I think it might still be 200MB if you have the PAYG bolt-on).0 -
My mate who has an Iphone has sometimes uses up to 2-3 Gigs per month so it pretty much is unlimited:).
Is this on the iPhone tariff or a regular/simplicity tariff? If I remember correctly O2 set a much higher data 'fair use' limit for iPhone users since they would use the 3G data connection for things like iTunes/App Store etc.0 -
He has a first generation Iphone but bizarrely he pays £20 a month on a Simplicity deal after forking out £269 for the phone about a year ago (he had been with O2 for 7 years and they desperately wanted him off the Genie tariff he said). So I think that the two tariffs are the same in that regard, I think that unless you are using the phone as a modem you should be able to use 3 Gigs easy. Always try and clarify the allowances in writing before you take the contract as they do seem to have a bit of a selective memory when it comes to this type of subject lol;).Is this on the iPhone tariff or a regular/simplicity tariff? This really gets on my nerves (not your reply). Getting hold of a copy of their acceptable use policy is down-right difficult. Their terms for the PAYG say 200Mb limit, but the contract terms says only that there is an AUP. So there is this mythical policy that they can hit you with at some point in time, but you don't know what rules you are playing with.
I rang O2 a few times, I went into the shop and searched online. The one person on the phone told me the terms would be with the contract I received in the post, and I only got the reference to the AUP I got online. Another said there was a 200Mb limit and a three-strike system whereby after the third strike/warning they turn off the bolt on. In-store I was re-assured that it was really, really unlimited, so I still don't really *know* what the correct answer is.
And I believe the iPhone tariff data limit is truly unlimited. ie they have an agreement with Apple that says they wont complain (and it's not like you can use it as a modem).*I reserve the right to have an opinion, the right to change this opinion and the right to be wrong.*Hope that helps. Iv put the sim and in at works ok, but its not allowing me to access the Internet. I phoned Customer Service, and they said that you cant use a Simplicity Sim for the Iphone, you can only use the specified Iphone Tarrifs!! Is this right? Have you jail broken your iphone? If not then this is the first step you need to do.
I had very similar plans to you as far as simplicity was concerned - I d be very interested in hearing your experience with this0 -
Hi, no not used the Jailbreaker software yet, heard somewhere that if you use this then you cant get upgrades from Apple? (is that true?)
But i thought the simplicity sim would work as its more or less the same as the Iphone Tarrif except i might have to get the extra bolt on for Wifi.,. when i actually brought the Sim the o2 rep said that it would work fine with the iphone but the internet might not be as quick using the web browsing, no mention about limits or anything!!!Anon£mon£y
