50+To me personally, it does not make much sense to copy and paste (it is actually putting in extra effort, and regarding companies, I can't see what the problem is, more visits to their sites should be a positive thing), but if the BGs think it is better to do so for whatever reason, then I suppose this is what i have to do.0

50+I was thinking that it may be the small independent sites that could have a problem with it, not the large established companies.
I have however bookmarked a few sites which provide good shopping, information etc which I would never have heard of it had not been for the competitions board. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have discovered handy sites through the comps.0 -
50+What happened to the "competitions ending... " threads like this one? They were very useful.

As has been said before, a quick glance at the I won forum shows that we've had plenty of MSE winners without pretending that entrants didn't come from MSE so there's no reason to block the referrer unless you choose to
Oh and I agree with others about using 'clicky's' - it makes absolutely no difference to the search, and you can still copy the link in both FF & IE if you want to open in a new page rather than just click on itAl Mac Appreciation Society (AMAS) member # 6½

50+I have noticed that the Board Guides only requested a re-wording of the prize details but also noticed that others were discussing this possibility of companies not liking it. To be honest, more visists to any site is a boost to them, well unless their whole site collapses under our weight
Anyway, thanks for clarifying, again:D , that the search is not affected by typing a direct URL, I might have been just unlucky on these few occasions.0 -
50+There have been a couple of occasions where the site owners have come on to the board and been unpleasant with regards to us 'compers' entering 'their' comps - although only a couple.
We have have other better responses where the site people have come along and told us the answer given was wrong (which helped us) or thanking us for the link.
But I have decided myself to use FF refcontrol (only found one site it won't work for so far - mykindaplace) and if I need to I right click copy link location and paste into new page/spare page. Just incase! lol
but it is up to the individual - I'm sure there have been others doing this since they started, rather than 2yrs later like me! - at least I'll be able to see if it actually makes any difference.
