I'm quite sure it's "me", but...
On the "front page" of the Comps Forum, where the three sub boards are listed at the top of the page, it states on "Game Over":
Once a contest has ended it will be moved for discussions here. Please report all closed contests in the contest closed thread on the main board.
So where's the "contest closed thread" then? I've never noticed one.Avoiding plastic, palm oil, UPF and Nestlé0 -

I for one think its a great shame that the Comp Ending threads have been ended. They were a great way for newcomers to start entering competitions, rather than wading through over 200 pages of different types of competitions with differing end dates and for different types of prizes, a process which could seem rather overbearing to many faced with it for the first time.
It seems that the clique of experienced compers has got their way - although why they couldn't have just ignored the thread if it wasn't of any use to them, and let those that were happy to compile the threads do so, and those others who did appreciate it carry on using it, I don't know.
I have however noticed that the most fervent anti-compending-istas seem to post more comments denouncing the threads and those that use them, than they post competition details or answers, preferring instead to pounce on any newcomers who simply ask what happened to the threads.
Whereas those that post the most competitions and are the most helpful, don't seem to have made any comments about the threads demise or not.
The increasing cliquishness of this board is in many ways a great shame, although not at all surprising. Most public forums eventually become this way, with the older and more experienced posters claiming “ownership” of the board and frowning upon newcomers who ask the basic questions, which although new and confusing to them, have been asked and answered many times before, or committing the mortal sin of posting in the “wrong” place or in the “wrong” format. Unsurprisingly more experienced posters tire of this repetition and “errors” and lose patience with the posters, forgetting that they were once new too.
As an example, only a couple of weeks ago, one poster posted details of some great competitions, some of which unfortunately, although the poster had tried searching for, had already been posted. Instead of a single person pointing this out and requesting a merge, a group of others seemed fit to criticise the original poster, repeatedly pointing out their mistake and the “correct” way of searching and posting. Not surprisingly the poster seems to have been scared off from posting any further posts – their flame well and truly extinguished.
At its best this forum has a lot to offer all parties – a varied and informative public forum open to all those that want to use it, provided free of charge by Martin Lewis, who benefits financially from its increasing popularity.
The recent actions of some on this board, will although in the short-term have the desired effect to them, of less newcomers joining and entering competitions, but will in the long run, I believe, have a detrimental effect, as the existing cliques splinter into smaller groups, preferring instead to communicate by pm rather than by posting. These groups will in the end, as always happens, eventually peter out due to the lack of new blood coming into them.
So for the sake of all compers, present and future " Please be nice to other MoneySavers".0 -
