it's all very nice winning a brand new ford model with auto blah bah, but methinks if i have to fork out for insurance, it will be an expensive 'win' ?

nearly all comp t/c's i have seen state you have to get ins in place before you pick the car up, from a possibly out of the way dealership..

if like me you probbaly enter so that you can sell it for cash (or at least get a samller car), buying a full years cover for something you may not be keeping seems a waste..

petrol aside, a (car) prize should be just that- not something thats gonna cost you..

If I won a car I'd be more than happy to pay for the insurance :D

I suppose you could pay in instalments and cancel when you sold it but personally it's not something I've ever pondered ;)

About a year ago one of my cousins won a car on a scratch card.

When he went to get the car, he didn't really want it and wanted cash instead, so the dealership he was getting it from offered to buy it off him.

According to the scratchcard it was something like an £18,000 car, but in the end I think he ended up getting something like £12,000 cash for it.

That was with the national lottery scratchcards, and he won a Vauxhall Astra or something like that??

On the other hand if you did win a car and had to pay for insurance to go pick it up, there are loads of companies that offer short term car insurance, anything from 1 day policies, so you could easily go get it and get it sold.

Blimey, do you realise how ungrateful your post sounds? I think all of us would gladly pay a bit more insurance to have the pleasure of a new car!

That's like saying if you won a huge tv, you'd expect the promoter to pay for the electricity to run it.........

...........or the license so you can watch it legally :D
  • Sorry but i agree with the above posts you sound ungrateful!
I would worry about the insurance if you actually won a car, the odds are pretty high that you won't so try not to lose too much sleep over it.

Could you please ensure all non competition posts like this go in the discussion thread, not the main board.

    Thanks.
