Loft insulation?

I filled in one of the forms on the British Gas Website for loft insulation a week ago and got a message saying someone will call me to arrange to visit....im still waiting. Incidentally, I have also been waiting 3 days for them to return to me about an enquiry I made about my gas/elec transfer which they said they would get back to me in 48 hours on!

I called my council a couple of days ago to enquire about loft insulation grants, they gave me a freephone number of the company they get to do their loft insulation. He is coming round in a couple of days to measure up and will insulate the loft soon after. All for £199.


So my advice would be call the council and ask them about loft insulation.

or is it British Gas? I just found a package for sale on the B & Q website. Insulate a 3 bed house for £198. (not sure how to post a link!) Seems to be something in conjunction with British Gas and they do a survey and then install insulation upto 270mm plus hatch insulation within 28 days.

Personally I've no problem with B&Q...bought a kitchen from them last year with no problems but I read so many bad things on here about them! Anyone else know anything about this package?

I had to remove old insulation when I moved in to my house on August as it needed wood worm treatment so I really really need to get new insulation in soon! Removing old insulation was a filthy job so I'd be happy to pay for someone to do it for me if it works out not too much more expensive. Will be doing some measuirng and calculating at the weekend!

Well when you fill in an online form on the British Gas website as far as I am concerned it is their service reputation on the line if nobody bothers to call me. So in my eyes, yes it is British Gas, regardless of whether they palm the work off to someone else.
