They sold their share of profits in when Leeds/Bradford airport got sold. Or maybe us tax payers..

This is an article from our local paper earlier this year.

    http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/express-and-chronicle/2008/03/08/free-insulation-for-all-and-no-catch-86081-20568209/

I know plenty of people who have had i done so far, none of them on benefits.
This space is available to rent... :D
  • Is the free loft insulation being given only to people who qualify (on certain benefits) or is it FINALLY opening up to people not on benefits? - I hope so

I was planning on doing mine but may hang on if there is a chance for people who don't qualify under the criteria at the moment to get it done :)

In my local council, it's free regardless of your income. It's worth contacting your local council, the worst they can do is say no.

A poster above says the government is due to make some announcments next week, maybe it could be something to do with this?

  • Thanks Curley...I hope Blackpool do this for everyone regardless of income as I have more urgent house things to spend my money on :)

I would hang on just a bit as the Government is due to make some announcement next week about this, whether it will suit your circumstances is anyone's guess, but you never know

Could you elaborate - what is going to be announced?

There has been speculation in the media that there is going to be a package of measures on household energy announced by the Government soon.

No details available, but measures to assist those in 'fuel poverty' and help for everyone to get better insulation are favourite.
  • definitely worth hanging on a few more weeks.. something will be announced...

Free for the over 70's and half price for the young ones.
Which doesn't mean owt because such as Focus have been doing 2 for 1 for years. Overpriced anyway.
Best way to cash in on this, if your loft wants doing is to use one of the companies.
