Organised Christmas 2008.. The countdown has begun!

I feel the need to make a list so that I can try and get my head round what's left to do.....
[strike]Once this horrible, achey flu goes away I might feel a bit more inclined to get cracking.[/strike] Feeling much better now.
DD1's birthday on Saturday so we don't talk/do anything christmassy in the house until that's over and done with.
So...
[strike]Need to get the decs/tree down - sort through the lights as I seem to remember throwing loads of broken ones last year with the promise of "we'll get new".....hmmm...[/strike] As I thought - only one set left - which had half the bulbs not working - no fuse bulbs to be had in town so gone for LED white lights....my they're bright.
[strike]Find advent calendars - they're fabric pocketed ones for DD's - I've got the sweeties ready to fill them with.[/strike] Sorted - all filled and ready to hang.
Find suitable basket for In-laws hamper - run out of cellophane so will be creative with tissue paper.
[strike]Make the final saltdough bits and bobs I need to do - wreath for parents, plaque for inlaws, gingerbread men for the tree....bake [/strike]and paint and varnish. Made, baked and cooling - will paint and varnish over the weekend.
Wrap everything - DH is off on the 11th Dec so we've penciled that in as the main wrapping day...as it all needs hauling out of the loft - wrapping - hauling back in the loft out of the way.
Put decs up - will do this over a few days - bits and bobs start creeping in from 1st december - tree will go up on the 6/7th ish
Write cards/make 3/4 home made ones for those who'll appreciate them....lost my address book so need to do a ring round and get everyones addresses (and store them on my laptop like I was nagged to do last year) - post cards.
[strike]Get some sort of meal plan together and start shopping for it - aiming not to spend more than my weekly food budget amount so need to get creative.[/strike] Meal plan sorted, shopping lists written for the next few weeks to incorporate what I need and it's looking to stay within budget.
Attend DD2's final primary carol service (how'd that happen...no more primary christmases??? I feel old)
[strike]Try and persuade the rest of the family (who don't have young kids) that holding a huge get-to-gether the Saturday before Christmas 200 miles from home isn't the best time for us.[/strike] Changed to the 14th - result.
Find something suitable to wear for boxing day at inlaws and the next day at my parents (I can't be the only person that doesn't have 2 decent partyish outfits surely?)
Finish 2 last sock monkeys, make a gingerbread man garland for the fireplace and maybe make a fabric gingerbread house (if I can smuggle the felt in without DH noticing I've spent more money) Getting there on these, ordered felt which has now arrived for gingerbread men/house, one sock monkey finished....other one is half done.
Think that's it for now......:j
Things to add:
Make 2 sock monsters
Make one sweetie bouquet
Find some polystyrene from somewhere
Make fold up shopping bag and case

Pinkladymel- aha! didnt know that. I can only use "simple picture" as I iz well fick! I need to learn the 'in the dark' settings for purposes of snapping the xmas tree lights tonight!!
ps- just googled the sugarcoated cardstock and now i know what it is it is great isnt it! I have lovely white stuff which i refer to as 'glitter card' in the same effect. lush lush lush! I think I'm going to ask OH if he will give me some pennies for xmas (like £20) to pick my own new batch of scrapbooking stuff to play with! You can be chief helper of the picking!!! I'm so out of touch with all the brands these days, much easier when it was only K& Co.!!
Phunkles - oh no do you have the hideous sickness thing that is going aroundyou poor luv! Had it last year and it is NO fun! get well soon !!
Thanks to all for comments about my tree!

If you go here:http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=10 it has all of the shops telling you about their latest special offers etc. Really useful if you want to spend a bit of paypal money and get your OH to wrap the things up for christmas for you
The sugar coated (posh word for glitter) cardstock I got was all flowers and butterflies it was gorgeous. If you go to scrapgenie.blogspot.com they do competitions to win things every wednesday if you register yourself as a follower to the blog.:xmastree:Self Certified Christmas Addict:xmastree:0 -

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh god i am so stressed out with this kitchen business. just been quoted about 3 x what we can actually afford so we're having to have a rethink and source some cheaper bits - bits that i didnt actually want - am so disapointed and stressed at having to do yet more shopping around. god i feel so stressed out with this damn kitchen i actually feel sick. i knew it would be a mare and asked hubby to deal with the builders etc so's not to get ripped off but as per everything falls to me. there's so much going on right now that i could just cry - its so overwhelming. all the things for boys bedroom are being delivered on monday - that that all needs decorating and sorting - then theres the damn kitchen and whos going to be at home in the middle of the mess trying to keep track of whats what. not to mention all my xmas jobbies - not even started wrapping yet and need to have a big clean/rejig for trimming up on sun. does anyone else ever feel like its all too much - how do you stop it getting on top of you??
someone make me feel better pls - way i feel i cant even be bothered to make tea right nowMANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j
