I need some advice from an expert Christmas Cake baker
I did my first one yesterday and its a little domed on the top. It would be fine to ice but I want to decorate the top so I want to level it off. Now, do I level it off before I wrap it and just ice it when the time comes. Or do I wrap it up still domed, feed it as normal then level it before I ice it?
Thanks in advance!!!!!:xmastree: :snow_laug Christmas Nutter :snow_laug:xmastree:0 -

You can do either, it really doesnt matter. If you fancy a bit of cake now, level it off then wrap and feed and eat the cake. If you arent to fust about having cake at the moment level it when you come to ice it. I am actually doing a cake decorating course at the moment so feel dead brainy being able to answer your question0 -
Haha thanks Shev your a star!
I think I might level it now. It seems pointless to be feeding the top dome of the cake when its getting chopped!:xmastree: :snow_laug Christmas Nutter :snow_laug:xmastree:0 -

shevs - got a half hearted apology from the receptionist. Doesnt really make up for the wasted day, wasted bus fares and all the hassle though. Bed news is I've got to go back there next week for a diabetes test. such a nightmare. they expect me to get there for 8.30am, and take OH with me in case i feel faint (its a starve test) - erm helloooo what should i do with my other 2 children?! We have no family nearby and i'd feel awful dropping them on a friend before 8am in a morning:(
Anyways, not feeling my best today - tad dizzy - so not sure how much i'll get crossed off - just gonna start and album nowMANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Hi everyone!
It's been a mad house here. Lee went to his WWE thing last night and got all his old wrestling gear out which meant a trail of destruction everywhere. My dad came to visit and he is so pedantic about everything so I have to do ridiculous things in preparation yknow like.. dust toilet rolls.. etc..
I have read every single one of your posts. Thanks so much for asking about me you really are too lovely x
Some of your posts really fire me up to do something.. you are so inspirational. Some of your posts made me LMAO and it is just so what I need..just makes me feel greatSome of your posts made me think WTH?! What is wrong with the world!
I had a homebirth with my second. I had to fight for it because I am overweight and have to get permission from the main dude. He isn't actually called the main dude but I have forgot his name now. The midwives came.. I was in full blown labour.. and they just kept asking me where the tea and coffee was.. moaning that I was taking too long.. offered me no support just sat on my setee making my disabled husband run about after them. Then one of the midwives said "Oh I have got to be up in the morning love lets go to the hospital i'm not waiting no more" They had only been sitting there for 4 hours. When i got into the hospital within 10 minutes I had given birth. Talk about a nightmare!!:xmastree:Self Certified Christmas Addict:xmastree:0 -
Oh Roxy you poor thing you should phone them and say you can't possibly do this. My sister in law is a nurse and because she works in the NHS they bend over backwards for her. The midwives come visit her at her house and everything. Can you complain and get someone to come home visit you? Can you get an appointment that allows you to get there and back before the kids come home?:xmastree:Self Certified Christmas Addict:xmastree:0

Oh mel please don't tar all midwives with the same brush! I'm training to be one, and yes I know exactly what you mean, there is a very relaxed "don't worry" kind of attitude where I work right now. It really riles me! We're not all the same, she'll get her bad karma back trust me!
And Roxie, I would go for a birthing centre, they're a bit more focused on a normal birth without intervention, whereas hosptial's seem to hand out drugs like smarties! Your choice at the end of the day, but make sure you're happy before you commit to anything. If you want the homebirth fight for it, you won't have anyone there you don't want, you can do what you want, be totally comfortable.
I wish you all the happiness and luck for your birth! Now to tackle my dustbin of a room!:xmastree:Christmasaholic and proud! :xmassmile0 -

Hey.. Anyone who is training to be a midwife is alright with meI respect them and think of them highly for choosing that proffession (I don't know why it is just something I couldn't ever do I think.. I am squeamish!!) but I have met some that think the world owes them something and if you have ever been in labour you will know what "Any chance of a tea?" feels like :rotfl:
We need more people like you in the world inkedkitten I hope you're training is going ok x:xmastree:Self Certified Christmas Addict:xmastree:0 -
