Baby milk tokens

Ive noticed a couple of sellers auctioning milk tokens for baby milk. Im guessing these are the ones you are given to receive free milk if your on benefits. most auctions end around the £20 mark. Is this allowed as ive got 4 milk tokens that i cant use for baby milk as hes 1 next week and the clinic dont allow you to exchange tokens once baby is over 1. I can use them at the local shop but have to get the 4 litres of milk in one go and it ends up going off.
Even though the tokens dont have my name on they do have my national insurance number and post code. it seams like easy money but not worth it if i will get into trouble.

I wouldn't risk it, its probably against the law to claim the free milk if you are not entitled to it and you may get in trouble for selling them instead of using them.
I assume these are vouchers that can be used for milk as well as powder? Did you know that you can buy long life milk with the vouchers not just fresh? Thay way it will last way longer. You can also freeze milk, it does tend to taste a little different but is not harmful.0 -
also you are opening yourself up to fraud if they have your national insurance number and postcode on.0

If the OP sold them as a 'one off', then no one would find out would they?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

Good point, bonnie. Though I don't think milk tokens are on eBay's banned items list, I'd be very surprised if they would allow it if someone reported it. On their "prohibited items" page it states:Please note that the above list is neither exhaustive nor restrictive. eBay reserves the right to delete any listing that may breach any legal provision or the general principles and values of the eBay community, even if the legal provision or principles and values are not explicitly stated on the site.
If your child would still use baby milk after his birthday, then you should probably try to use any remaining tokens before then. You should be able to use them at the chemist's, not just at the baby clinic where you may be used to getting the milk. If you do change the tokens for fresh milk, maybe you could lend some of it to relatives, friends or neighbours, and have them buy you a fresh carton when you need it? Also, in my area, a few corner shops keep a milk token book and allow you to collect a pint a day. Though the practice may not be common, it may be worth asking if any local shops offer this service.0 -
oh yes they can.. firstly if they bought in say glasgow and have say a london postcode might bring attention and just to say my friend was done for fraud for selling on her milk tokens and she only sold them to another friend.... its a benefit like any other and if abused will be considered fraud.. so if they want to sell it buy the milk and sell that on ..fuzzgun19 wrote:If the OP sold them as a 'one off', then no one would find out would they? Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,

im not on about fraud as in ebays prohibited items, what i mean is that if her national insurance no is on there somebody could use it to claim benifits etc it has been known to happen.never give out anything with your personal details on by all means cash in on some milk and sell that instead.0

Well after reading all the replies it doesnt seam worth the risk and knowing my luck i will be one of those who gets found out. i will give the freezing of the fresh milk ago as theres no point getting any more powdered baby milk as ive still got 3 un-opened tubs in the cupboard. I will also mention about the a milk token book at the local shop, see if they will start one up.
Thanks for all your replies. i think i would probably prefare to have a fridge full of off milk then be in trouble for fraud0 -
yes i understand what your saying but in the benefits peoples eyes it will be fraud.. and then if someone stole her identity with the NI number thats fraud.. selling them on ebay isnt fraud..bonnie wrote:im not on about fraud as in ebays prohibited items, what i mean is that if her national insurance no is on there somebody could use it to claim benifits etc it has been known to happen.never give out anything with your personal details on by all means cash in on some milk and sell that instead. Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
